Hey everyone, Which bump stop is everyone running in back on the bottom of the spring perch? I've read that a lot about the Daystar stops, but was wondering which model. I am not running anything as far as an added bumpstop and I have the same rear setup as you. Why do you want them? Tire rubbing? |

Ill have some for sale after christmas if you want them. They are the daystar bump stops.. Some people think you need them to keep the shocks from bottoming out before the suspension does, I used them b/c my tires rubbed.

Any 1/2-1" piece of rubber works in the rear. I just used some 1/2" polyurethane disks I had laying around. I've even seen someone use a hockey puck. They keep the shocks from bottoming out if you come down hard on the suspension. The stock bumpstops are just a tad too short (less than 1/2") to prevent the shocks from bottoming out at times. All you need is a little something. Alot of people add larger ones like the Daystar 1.25" ones to keep the tires from stuffing too far into the wheel well and rubbing. |

Thanks for the help, everyone. Totally appreciated. Kolesy, I was thinking of getting em cuz I have nasty pics in my head of that video where a KJ flexed while offroad and losing a rear spring! With my luck that would probably end up happening to me! Not sure if you've seen that video or not. It's a classic.

Here's a link to a page on RockLizards site about adding hockey pucks to existing bumpstops, you could probably do something similar on the rear of a KJ. |

Found the thread with the links for the video, but when I tried to view it I got a '403 - forbidden' error, then when I tried putting https:// in front of it like the friendly page suggested I get a '404-file not found' error. After all that I clicked on the thread originators profile button and got kicked to the main index page, which makes me think he is no longer on the board. If I remember correctly, that was the result of the wrong rear shocks that were to long and allowed the spring to pop out. |

Oh ok. I've got the RSX17004's in the back of mine. I'm hoping the same isn't the case with those shocks!

here's an example with what could happen, RSX 17004's & pre-lowerd springs 
luckily I DIDN'T loose a spring but could've, bought rusty's lift hopefuly problem solved

im assuming the people that need bigger bumpstops are removing their rear sway bars? is this the case? |

Another reason to add a larger bumpstop in the rear when lifted is to keep from over compressing the springs. This would prematurely cause the springs to sag. |
