I'm thinking about going from the 245/65R17's to 255/65R17's on the 17X7.5" rims. Looks like all I would need is the OME lift with a 1/2" strut spacer up front. Then, if I end up needing a little more, I could always add a clevis up front and an extra spring isolator in the rear. Anyone running this combination? And if yes, do you have any pictures?

Thanks

If no one's running the 255/65R17's, how about the 255/70R16's?

255/70R16 roughly (30.2"OD)is less OD than a 245/75R16 (30.6"OD)it would be fine

Just about anything under 30.5" will be OK with that much lift.

Gotta take everything into consideration guys. He said he will be getting wheel spacers which will push the wheels out further.

I had rubbing on the front with 255/70/16 tires with 5" BS rims. My rear fenders would of gotten torn off unless I used extended bumpstops. At the time I had the OME lift all around. Kyliberty already knows this, but Im putting the info out there for everyone else.

I'm actually thinking about not using the spacers because of the potential rubbing issues. Just thinking the OME medium lift, with 255/65R17 Destination AT's on the stock 17X7.5" rims, and a 1/2" strut spacer up front to level it out. I've had the measuring tape out and don't think it will rub anywhere. If I do 1" spacers, I think I'll have to pound the pinch weld, and possibly get creative with a heat gun by the fog light doors. I was thinking about doing the 1" wheel spacers and a Rusty's lift and 245/70R17's on the 17X7.5" rims as another way to go.

OME Heavy Dutys instead of mediums will give you more lift. Just a thought.

How does the ride compare between the heavy and mediums? Also, this won't see any trail use. The worst it sees are hilly gravel roads, and snowy mountain roads for ski trips. Do you think I would need more height with a 30.1" diameter and 10.2" width than the mediums with a strut spacer would provide? If so, I'll probably want to do the Rusty's with the 245/70R17's and some 1" wheel spacers. I think that would put the outer edge right where 245/75R16's on Moabs are, and the inner edge a half inch farther out. I may be misunderstanding the backspacing and rim widths though.

I just installed my OME lift on the weekend and love the ride. I used 926's(med) up front and the 948's(HD) rear and the ride is great like i said. I was also concerned about how the HD coils would ride on the streets and i'm really surprised how smooth it is. Iam glad i wen twith the 948's in the rear since it gave me about 2.5' of lift or more, but the 926's up front only gave me about 2' if that, so i have to install the strut plates just to level it out a bit. I would recommend the OME HD in the rear atleast and you will not be dissapointed with the lift! Trust me :D

Oh and you should be fine fitting the tires if you use Med's and a strut plate. But just to be on the safe side u could also go with HD's up front. I know Pburg is running HD'd all around with a clevis lift and 245's/75's and looks good , he says the ride is goood as well! something to consider.

What rims is Pburg running with the 245/75R16's? If I go with 245/70R17 tires, I'd like to do a 1" spacer to widen the stance a little. If I just go with a little bit taller and fatter tire such as the 255/65R17's, I don't want to lift it too high and make it look like it has too small of tires like it did stock with the 235/70R16's. They looked way to small. Going to the 245's even corrected my speedometer. I also don't want to destroy my handling on road. It handles really well for a Jeep the way it's set up right now.

I like the way his looks, but it's higher than what I'm looking for. It looks like I only need 1-1.5" more than my pre-lowered has. I could fit the 255/65R17's right now, but they would be really tight and rub. I wonder if I could do 2 isolators per side in the rear, and a strut plate and clevis up front?

Edit

I just really took a look at Rocklizard's sight. I'm starting to think that their front and rear bumpers painted to match, and a Frankenlift with the upgraded OME shocks and struts, with 255/70R17's and some 1" wheel spacers, and Al's A-arms, would be mean looking. The whole reason I actually got into upgrading the performance of the KJ was so it would have enough power once lifted with some bigger tires since it was already sluggish.
