| Post subject: | skid plates standard on renegade? |
I just bought an 05 renegade and was wondering if the skid plate package is standard on renegades? It has the rock rails but I looked at the undercarriage and don't see skid plates. It might just be that I don't know what they look like. Anybody have pics of the stock skids? I was thinking I had them when I bought it and will be pretty disappointed if it doesn't This thing performs very well stock. I outdid a 99 wrangler that had MT tires with mine using just the stock highway tires. Of course the wrangler driver wasn't very good. Went up a very steep 15-20' mud incline. Very nice. |

My 04 came with engine, t-case, and gas tank. Not sure if it was an option or standard w/the Renny package. |

I am surprised that you would have boulder bars and no skids that seems odd to me. Did you purchase it from dealership or private owner?? |

Jeepjeepster: Thank you. That's the same plates that would be stock with the skid plates package? Mine doesn't have them, just the rock rails. One more expense for me. |

Yeah really. I bought it from a dealer. It was a leased vehicle before they received it (one previous owner). I'm still wondering if the skid plates were an option or standard because if they were standard on the renegades then I just got ripped off an extra few $$$. I did get a really good deal on it though so I can't complain too bad. Problem is I'm still a student so going out and spending any amount more money on it right now is out of question. |

Had to of been an option with your particular Renegade model considering you do not have the roof light bar attached either. Usually if you had the roof light bar with the Renegade you had the skid plates....I think they were optioned together with the Renegade... |

The stock rock rails won't hold up, the aftermarket ones are many times better. |

The mopar skids do not cost to much. You can catch them in the for sale section often and Jparts.com also has them. The stock rocker rails will do just fine for mild offroading. You dont want to be beating on them hard though. |

They are an option. I had them installed on mine and it was not that expensive. |

My 2006 didn't have them either. They're a breeze to put on and work fairly well. |
