Time to check a couple of things, the skid plate against anything, the exhaust pipe against anything, and check to see if the plate is tight.

Next is a engine tick? Sound like an old chevy small block with a bad lifter? If it does, and you may have a noisey injector. Hard to pin point a noise with out hearing it.

On my past vehicles, that would sound like a leak in the exhaust. when its cold it leaks, as it warms up, the metal expands and seals the leak ( for a while anyway).

just a though.

I sorta think it is a cracked manifold due to the heat it generates and the cold river I went through I think that is what happened.Does that make sense?

its depends on how loud it is

all metal expands and contracts due to heat....most of the time it is noticed when shutting off a hot car, the tapping is going on because its cooling down and the metal is slightly changing

but its also heard a lot on warmup

i wouldnt worry about it if there is no performance or actual differences while driving

but if you suspect a leak you can always try searching it out
