| Post subject: | Boulder Bars or RL Sliders |
I'm in a situation where I can get either Boulder Bars of Rock Lizard Sliders. I have no experience with either of these products, but I know that some of you have. SO I'm asking for some assistance. Aside from the Boulder Bars having 3 struts supporting the bars and the Sliders having the triangular bracing, just how similiar are they? Which is the better product? And how difficult is the install on both? Any info would be appreciated. |

I know I am biased, but I like RL's better, as I see the work he puts into each set. I know BB are built right too, and I have seen both sets beat up and with stand it well. BTW, RL can sell you either Boulder Bars or his sliders, whichever you choose. |

No scientific study or real trail study done to compare. Even if you did try to test them, conditions would never be the same. Both are great. Flip a coin, einie meenie myni moe, bubble gum bubble gum, rock paper scissors (with a friend of course...wouldn't work to compete your left hand with your right hand. |

If I were to replace my current sliders (which hopefully won't happen for a while), I'd go with the Super Skinks. Gives you the durability of a tight mounted slider with the addition of the round tube for a little extra protection as well as a step. DonC |

I have BB right now and they have been fantastic. I have zero complaints. However, if I was in the market now I would go with the Skinks for a few reasons. 1) They have 4 support arms instead of 3. 2) They are $35 cheaper (heck, I'd buy em if they were $35 MORE just because of reason #1). 3) RL is local so I could avoid shipping costs. |

I'd recommend the RL myself. I ordered them a while ago and recieved them. Very well built. They are not on there, but the reason may very well be installer error |

I have the BB's. But since Rock Lizard has them both I would talk to him and see what is in your price range and which is availible now or when you are ready to order. Both companies are strong supporters of the KJ so you can't go wrong with either. Just my .02 worth. |

I have beat up BB's on both my KJ's and think they are hands down the best investment I ever made for my Jeeps. That said, I don't think you could go wrong with either version. If you need/want the extra outer bar, go for the RL's, if you like the idea of a third mounting leg in the middle, grab the BB's. If I was in the market for another set I would seriously look at RL's Super Skink sliders (or whatever they are called) for the extra outer bar, and then either ask Marty to add the third mounting leg OR just add it myself when they got here. We are a dang lucky group though to have two great supporters of lost making and co-selling such great products for our Jeeps. |
