I have my Daystar 2.5" lift on my CRD and it looks good. It now looks like the rear differential is a big target for boulders. Is there any protection available for the rear diff? Do I need to add it? Thanks |

Lots of choices: http://www.youngs.org/kjparts/default.asp?category=4 Yes, it's a good idea to protect the rear diff. The housing itself is very strong, but the stock diff cover is about as thick as a tin can, and it's possible to peel it off on a rock and drain the fluid...bad news if you're on the trail in the middle of nowhere. |

I know that cheifdab in the mid-atlantic found a very solid rear diff cover I just don't remember where (it may have been a Rusty) |

Yes the one I have is a Rusty's. It covers the lower half of the diff. Other people swear by the Poison Spyder diff guard though it's more expensive and of a different design. When shopping for one, remember it is for the Chrysler 8.25 diff. |

I have a four-x doctor guard. $69 as I recall. easily added during fluid change. you can add it without changing and you MIGHT get away without leaks. It's a good idea. And it looks cool too! If you are in a rocky area and back up during maneuvers, you might back rright into a rock and bend that cover into your gears and/or let fluid out as mentioned earlier. It's cheap protection to a not-so-cheap part! here's mine ![]() http://www.fourxdoctor.com/main/diff_guards/diff_guard_03.jpg |
