I need to pick up a square orange ORV ( off road viehicle ) flag for summer use. The requirements are that the flag is 10 feet off the ground. Where do you guys pick them up and how do you mount them? Didn't need these stupid things out in the desert of NM and Texas |

i take it you need it for silver lake. every store has them. I'd recommend just stopping into David Allen Racing, its the place right at the entrance/exit of the dunes, they even have some stuff there to help you mount it... Flag is around 20 bucks the mount which usually attaches to your tow hook is the easiest, about 10 bucks.

well when you are going up a hill they are great. you can see if another vehicle is coming long before you actually see them. or at least thats the idea |

Pep-Boys has 6' ATV safety flag for $3.99. At least that's what it cost when I got it summer before last. It came with a compression fitting and nut on the bottom, but I chose to just clip that off and tie-wrap it to my roof rack. |

I bought mine at a gas station at silver lake.
I tool off one of my front tow hooks and bolted a piece of angle iron to it with a 1/2 inch hole in it.
A good flag doesn't flap around much. I zip tie my flag closed and leave it on for the trip up and back. |

The shop that mounted my ORV flag just clamped a 1-1/2" x 5" piece of steel to my right front tow hook. It took them a little while to figure it out. I'll post up pics when I find them. |

tom I am looking to go May 31st till June3 . I stay at Jellystone park and there rates go up on June 8. http://www.silverlakejellystone.com/rates.htm The top hole in your ARB should be fine. When you get into the town of Silver lake you will see flags for sale every where and they range from $21.00 to $25.00 |

Jellystone, is too family orientated for me. So i stay at Val Du......... and if you have the 02-04 front end you don't even need to remove your tow hook, just run a piece of bar stock off the bolt on the tow hook. |

That's how mine is hooked up Here's how the tow hook bolt looked originally
and here's how it looks after they mounted the bracket. The shop used the original tow hook mounting bolt.

I haven't crawled out under the Jeep with the snow and all. It sure is taking a while to adjust to winter after 5 years in SW Texas. Any good ideas on how to mount the flag wihtout giving up the tow hook on my '05? TIA |

well its not a big deal to give up a hook a dunes, you honestly really don't need them that often there. Mounting it off the bolt that your Tow hook mounts to is probably the best way. Its just a matter of making the bracket work. and i can't think of anywhere else you would need that flag, Badlands flags you usually mount on the rear. and they are a lot lower. |
