Post subject:  Tire On Top? Tire On the Back?

Didn't want to hijack the "Steel Wheels Painted Black?" thread but I had to ask ....

Clint - What was behind your decision to put your spare on the roof? My initial thought would be that it would add to the top-heaviness.

A lot of the places we wheel are at a very sharp angle. Whe you come off the ledge it would hit the spare tire on the rear and bend the door. Hope that helps. later...Clint

You attached a Jerry can to the back in place of the tire, right? What kind of adapter/holder did you use?

Seth, FYI there's another thread on the forum on the same subject. I think between Clint's answer and the other thread you'll find out via pics why.

Increased angle of departure....got it.

I'd hate to have had to learn that lesson the hard way!

Thx

Yea a few guys did when we lead the trails at Camp Jeep CA last year.

By the way the gas mount is a Conn Ferr that i got from All J Products. It does not come set up for a KJ so they make a mount for it to work in the factory holes for the tire mount. Hope that helps. Later...clint
