Jeep is running around the country doing a mini Camp Jeep. http://www.jeep.com/jeep_life/events/ca ... edule.html LOST and LOST NorCal was represented at the Pleasanton event today with myself and Ken & Wendy Langley. It was a great chance to spread the LOST gospel and we attached biz cards to every Libby we saw, although there weren't that many (musta all gone to the mall. Some highlights: - They had the Camp Jeep Jeep 101 course set up with Wranglers, GCs, and Commanders avaiable to run. I ran the Commander. The interior is plush; what I imagine a coffin must be like. The course had 3 steep moguls and the rig scraped the centerline on all 3. The staight-hood-line-can't-see-jack reminded me of the XJ. I'm spoiled for the KJ's sloped hood line. Not sure its such a great 4 wheeler for $40,000. Its exterior looks had an H3 feeling to it. - They had what they called a 'Jeep Playground.' This was for you to run your own rigs on. It was pretty lame compared to the 101 course but did have a nasty articulation test. People who had not ever run something like this with all its tippiness where freaking. Great to watch. - The playground did have a bodacious mud pit with a 6 foot tall climb out. A bypass with a 3 foot climb out was also there. Nobody could make the 6 foot climb out but I came within a foot of doing it. This was super slick North Bay mud. The bypass was a 30 degree wheels-in-the-air climb for a set up YJ and CJ. I ran the mid pit and the climb out twice and did it at a crawl. We were the only 3 Jeeps to make it in the 1.5 hours I was there. Rubi's, TJs, CJs, XJs all tried and had to be strapped. This obstacle attracted quite a crowd and once again LOST KJ Liberties dropped a lot of jaws. I love it when that happens! So if this event shows up in your area show up with your LOST biz cards and show what your rig can do. A biz card model can be seen at http://lostkjnorcal.com/Forms/Forms.htm mt ps: Ken took some pics so we'll post them when they arrive. |

How do you get in? It says it's free, but registration is limited and requires an invitation or registration code, and says nothing about how to get one. Sounds a lot like gmail to me..... |

I just signed up on line. Where it asks for an invite code I just left it blank. I did get an invite in the mail a day before the event. Takes a while to get pony express over the Sierra Nevada. |

I can't wait. I am driving over to the guy selling the Rubi wheels and MTR's Monday after work. Should do a lot better in that mud pit than my stock SR/A's. |

I wouldn't try it with SRA's Daivd. You'll just need to be strapped. In fact I don't think I would have made it through with my MTRs if I didn't also have a locker. But maybe try it anyhow. Man, I ended up with so much mud stuck in my Cragars that it affected my wheel balance. Had to pull over on the Interstate and knock the mud off the wheels. |

Even if I just had the SRA's, I'd have to try it. Why go and not try having fun and seeing what you can/can not do? That's what it's all about. I am excited!!! |

If I had stock wheels on I'd still go in it too just to go. How could you not? Safe controlled enviroment with plenty of Jeep folks if you break something. Oooooohhhh the fun! I had to work. Thanks for the pictures Matt. |

Cool! My wife and I went to the Houston camp jeep and I'm afraid our life will never be the same! We're both dying for a 4-by now. We drove the Rubicon. Pretty sweet ride. I think my wife got two wheel off the ground through the moguls. Definitely GO! Fun time. |

Camp Jeep Denver........ I want to thank Jeep very much for bringing this event to us today, but I was very bummed when it came to the Jeep Owners Playground. The mud pit was extremely small. Not a single vehicle had an issue going through it. From the pictures LilMatty provided of their mud pit, ours was about 1/4 the size and no soft mud, just a small pit full of water that got muddy. The overall owners course was the size of half a football field. Stock Grand Cherokee's were going through the course with no problems. Overall, I am grateful that we had this event here in Denver. I know people looked at the KJ funny when we did the little course. Though it wasn't a challenge. I had 4 adults and a fully loaded cargo area as I did the course and my big rear tires rubbed the fender flares as I maneuvered through the moguls. Nothing serious. No lost rivets. I'll post a picture of my dirty KJ. Anyone from LOST Rockies get pictures of the course, that they can post? |

I got some! Kinda tough to get good shots since my wife had to stand pretty far away.
"Strangers in the night, exchanging glances..."
A pretty good stuff.
Jim, testing out the stock rock rails.
Waiting for another go.
We had 4 LOST KJs out there today and got some very weird looks. It was especially fun to see Wrangler owners pull over and take pictures of us running through the articulation course. They just couldn't belive their eyes I guess. We also met a few stock KJ owners who seemed inspired! Gave them the website address so hopefully they stop in and say "hi". |
