May want to check out the brakes. Ive heard of earlier libbys have problems with the calipers locking up and causing all sorts of problems.
Since its under warranty, let the dealer worry about it.

Just recently I have noticed a loud clicking noise coming from the right rear of my Jeep Liberty. It only is noticable at about 50 mph and faster, and gets louder the faster I go. It also increases/decreases in relation to the speed of the vehicle. It is a very fast and consistent click that sounds metallic. Anybody have a clue? This is a 96 Liberty Renegade. |

Have you checked the fluid in the rear diff? I don't have rear disks like all of the other liberties so I wouldn't know what kind of sound a loose caliper or brake pad could make. (If you have warranty left though - send it to the dealer...  )

May also be that the rear shocks need a little tightening up? Does it sound like it is coming from the door area? That's what my first Rusty's kit sounded like every now and then -- needed regular tightening. |

I only have 15K on this thing. I should have enough warranty left. I just want to sound somewhat intelligent when I take it ot the dealer. It may be a far reach, but I am working on it. Any more ideas? |

Any more ideas? If it's anything like the stealership I took mine to, they won't listen to anything you tell them, anyway. Their mechanic will just make his own assumptions. I'm just saying to hell with the rest of my warranty (31K on her) and doing the work myself now. At least then, I know exactly what was done and how. As for what your problem is, I'd say the advice you've been given is pretty sound. Just depends on what kind of noise we're talking about here. Without hearing it ourselves, it's really hard to say what it might be. I'd start by making sure the shocks and rear swaybar are tight, though. Easy to fix, if that's all it is and if not, then you'll know that's not the problem, if the stealership tries to say it is. |

Any more ideas? Howdy ducktail,In my profession the term is called "PAD KICK".Tell them to check the "Anti Rattle Clips". If your hearing a clicking in rotation with the wheel the rotor could also be just slightly out of round causing the pads to "KICK" forwards and then back;thus the term "PAD KICK".Hope this helps. If it was pad kick, wouldn't the noise stop when the brakes are applied? It is not heard until the vehicle is going over 55. There is no effect on the noise after this whether you apply the foot brake or the e-brake. If it were the pads, I would think the noise would stop at that point. |
