Hello,

I was going to install my daystar lift today when the following happened:

I dont know what you call it, but its the big piece the upper and lower Ball joints connect to, along with swaybar, steering and all that. Well I was going to install my lift today and after removing the upper balljoint, I saw that the hole the UBJ goes in has a extremely fine crack. It starts on top and runs down on the inside wall. What am I gonna do now? Remove my spacer lift and take it to the dealer and have them replace it? You cant see the crack though until you remove the UBJ. I'll post a picture in a minute.

Thanks,
Daniel

who installed the lift?
The reason that I ask is that to get the ball joint out you need to "tap" on that cast pcs. if you tap to hard that will happen

I dont see a need to remove the lift to bring it to the dealer
we now have a dealer here in south LA that is working with a local 4X4 shop and having lifts installed as a DIO and covering them under factory waranty
You can even have it financed
so I see no need to remove the lift I can give you the name of the dealer if you want

I tried to do it myself :D Well the thing was, that the UBJ was in fact very hard to get out because I didnt have anything pushing from underneath (underneath the lower arm). I just installed the strut and I used a floor jack to jack up the axle a little bit, to bring the thread of the UBJ closer to that cracked thing, wnt right in! So I removed the spacer and all that and will bring it to the dealer on monday to have em fix it.

That must of been a flaw in that 'spindle' for it to crack like that. It would take one heck of a beating to crack that thing. The factory joint would probably fail before that would.

Its called a spindle.

I put it almost all back together. I will finish up tomorrow and bring to the dealer next week and tell them to replace it, under warranty. Just have to think of a good reason how I know that that place is cracked and why I checked it in the first place.
