Front passenger cv and axle shaft

Okay, my understanding is that when you pull out the front passenger side cv the actuall axle shaft in the axle housing is supposed to stay put inside the housing. Mine just came right out...what should I do. Should I take the housing out and replace the housing bearings and whatever clip or whatever it is that is supposed to hold it in? To get the housing off do I have to dissassmble the drivers side as well? Any help would be appreciated...I need my JeeP! :?

On the passenger side when you pull the CV out the "axle" will pull out with it( at least it does on mine),this is normal and nothing to worry about. The clip that holds the CV in is on the end of that "axle" that pulls out with it.The driver's side will not have that axle extension, just the passenger side.Hope this helps.

Make sure you have the correct CV shaft first, but yes the axle extension can be reused. It pulls out of the pass CV and held in place by a identical clip as the opposite end of the axle extension.

Pull really hard,it's going to be really in there. When I changed the outer clip on mine it took me,USAFCOP,and I believe KW AV8R to push the CV back in,so it's going to be a real pita to get the axle extension out of the CV.
