OME & Stock Spring Rates ?

I recall reading a thread that listed the spring rates for the various OME springs and some of the stock spring rates but I can't seem to locate it again.

Could someone post the info or a link to the proper thread?

OME spring rates are Fronts
medium 375 lbs
heavy duty 400 lbs

Rustys 310 lbs
I had the spring rates for some of the stock wrote down but the dog must of ate them :lol:

Does anybody know the performance difference between the front/rear Springs used in the option package for the Limited? I saw I had upgraded springs in my Limited Option plan.

“Progressive rate springs provide a consistently comfortable ride and help maintain consistent handling over varying load conditions. They also reduce the vehicle's ride height with load. Rubber upper and plastic lower spring seat isolators reduce road, axle and suspension noise transmitted to the passenger compartment. Ive never heard of that before! Wonder if its true?

Yeah, it’s really weird. I had the Dealer print me a copy of my VIP Summary Report. I was looking at the specific options included in my package and it reads, ZCHP Spring - Left Front, ZRGP Spring - Right Front, ZCVP Spring - Left Rear, ZRVP Spring - Right Rear. Other options included were the Leather Seats, Power Heated Fold Away Mirrors, All Speed Traction Control, 4 speed Automatic, Luxury Door Trim Package, Selec-Trac Full Time 4WD System, Brake Assist, Mini Overhead Console, Rear View Auto Dim Mirror, Remote Keyless Entry, Power Front Driver/Passenger Seats, Traveler/Mini Trip Computer, Federal Emissions ( You would think this would come standard), 6 Premium Infinity Speakers, 17 X 7.0 Aluminum Chrome Clad Wheels, Sirius Satellite Radio with one year free service, 6 Disc CD Player, Sentry Key Theft Deterrent System, Illuminated Entry, Security Alarm, Inferno Red Crystal Pearl Coat, Steering Wheel Mounted Audio controls, Universal Garage Door Opener, Power Sunroof, Speed Sensitive Power Locks, Vehicle Information Center, 3.7 L Badge, Goodyear Brand Tires, Tire Pressure Monitoring Springs, 5 additional gallons of gas, Customer Preferred Package. This was all in the Option category. Other upgrades were listed, but they were under the Standard Equipment category. Unless if they made several changes for the 07 year.

There are so many different spring rates depending on what you have ie; AC, towing, automatic vs manual, skids, etc. None of them are that much different that it would be better to trade for others, maybe 20/30 lbs at most if that. Its all mostly just to make people think that they have something special, which they do if they have a KJ!

Thanks for the feedback. I kinda wondered if they all were pretty close in relation to size and load capacity. Obviously the CRD would be in a different ballgame. But I’m surprised there are Spring Options for all the other KJs, after all, DCX is known for cookie cutter parts (one size fits all) to save a dollar! I guess it doesn’t matter if I’m looking at a Frankenlift for the future. Just curious.

Anyone know what the spring rate is on the stock springs? Also, I wonder if they changed the spring rate when they lowered the libby?

Has anyone ever had the Rustys springs sag any? They seem to ride great, but I would imagine over time they would sag since the spring rate is so low.

I cant say for sure how the Rustys are now but I remember when I first got on here (8/04) there were some that said over time the Rustys would loose some of their height after a while.??

As far as I can tell the actually spring rates remained about the same during the switch, but like now there are so many different ones its hard to really track. So not sure if they just went to a shorter spring or????? Of course they (the manufacturers) have been doing this for years, I bought a new 76 Ford 1/2 ton pickup back in 9/75 and had a front coil break, 33 miles after warranty went out, and they used 5 or 6 different ones then.
