I went with the Frankenlift
I wanted Moabs, but decided to wrap the stock wheels with MTR's
ARB bumper up front
I had to pound the pinch weld quite a bit, and the tires rub a little on the sway bar at full crank,
but it's a great Jeep.

2004 bought new September 2004
today Feb.13,2009 it has over 117,000 miles
and over 75000 of those have been lifted with OME Heavy Duty springs and Rancho shocks The last few thousand has been with a top spacer like Rustys sells then changed it out for one from Rocky Road since it was thicker, also have a clevis lift
Have had mine torn apart trying different tricks about a dozen times now anything to kill time out in the garage
Whats went wrong..... replaced the lower ball joints with greaseable Moogs, replaced the rear U Joints other than that nothing suspension wise. I replaced the UCAs with Als 4.5s but mine are still good and tight , I just got a deal and up graded
I have ran stock wheels and 245-70s then went to Moabs and 255-70s now I am running 265-70 BFG ATs on the Moabs
some various photos

I have OME HD coils and I used OME N132 rear shocks and Rancho RSX 17505 front shocks and with just those I gained 2.5", then I added 1 rear iso and three 2" conuit nuts in the front and then it came out to an even 3".

Front HD coils-OME 927
Rear HD Coils-OME 948
Rear Shocks-OME N132
Front Shocks-Rancho RSX 17505
Rear Iso p/n-52088707AA
Custom Front Bump Stops
Air Lift Rear Air Bags For A Toyota

With this lift I have noticed a better ride while on and off the road and better handling. Very easy to install yourself in your garage in about a day, even with basic hand tools. I have had zero issues with it, on sagging, just as good as it can be, Im extremely happy with the results.

Daystar front 1.5" / 2" rear spacer lift. #KJ09123BK
Image

Fitted it myself about a year ago. See here;
http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=29217

Used as DD and ofroader, here's what I experienced on my heavy CRD:

The ride changes dramaticaly because your front springs are now compressed and so are a lot stiffer then they used to be. Therefore travel is limited and coil binding is eminent. Hard hits on a front wheel made a nice 'BANG' noise: end of coil travel, UCA cannot reach bumpstop.

It works great on blacktop and smooth stuff but if you go rock climbing...this will rattle your bones. And your KJ's front suspension parts suffer the consequences. Due to me banging away the oem springs have sagged badly. Tried adjusting with a 3/8 clevis lift and it sagged back to almost stock hight and the coils are now almost touching eachother. So far for the front.

My OEM rear shocks are dead. But that was to be expected, if you raise the rear coils 2" the poor shocks have 2" less extention travel and so the slightest speed bump make them top out, doing 'BANG' also.

If you use your KJ as a DD on the highway this is the lift for you. If you like going into the rough stuff save your money and get a full coil kit.

Greetz, Tonycrd

My lift has changed a few times and is now where i want it to be... 4".
Rims: Cragar Soft 8's 16x8 5" BS
Rubber: 265/70/16 Cooper STT's
Image
Image
Image

Rear:
CRDSTU Extra heavy duty coils
CRDSTU Extra long OME shocks
I've got a 40mm bump stop in the rear, just enough to let the wheel turn without ripping anything off. I've bashed the pinch weld's in the front half of the wheel well, splash guards are still in place but I've cut about 15mm or so from the plastic on the door to allow for the wheel to turn and not damage it.

(front sway bar is still on in pics)
Image
Image
Image
Image

Front:
OME HD Coils
CRDSTU 8mm top strut plate
1 ring clevis (well I now have 2 on one side and now none on the other, became uneven)
ISSUES: I have contact with the upper control arm ball joint on full drop and the upper control arm also contacts the uni body where it’s mounted. I plan to make a rubber bump stop and fix it in place to reduce hard contact at that point but not the coil area. Not yet anyway.

Pinch weld is pounded, font wheel well still has a lot of the liner but also a lot cut out. I still get some contact with the water bottle but haven't ripped it off.

***I will up date with off road pics after Camp Coffs this Easter as I've not been offroad for some time***

CRDSTU (or OzLtd - on LOST) can supply front and rear to what ever lift size you want. He's based in QLD Australia and will freight anywhere in the world. His kit is sound and tested, I've had my rig enginerred and the engineer was quite impressed with his parts.

I did want to get the extension bracket for the rear diff from JBA but after OHV broke his I was thinking it may not be the best. I'm still considering it but will wait and see.

Hi all, I finally finished fitting my so long thought of and desired lift.

It consists of:

OME 927/948
Koni heavy track front shocks
Rancho RSX 17004 rear shocks
Rusty's top plates
3 ring clevis
+1 upper isolater on the rear
JBA gen 3.5 upper control arms
Terraflex front bumpstops
Cut to size rubber mallets rear bumpstops

Here's what I got:

Image

Here's what the front looks like:

Image

Here's what the rear looks like:

it's parked on the curb so it seems the bumpstop is very close to the extra one I fitted to protect the Rancho shocks, but in normal driving conditions it sits further apart.

Image

Test driven it for a little bit, very happy with it!

Image

Now need some bigger tires...fast..:D
