Just installed lift and tires today. Frankenlift II, pounded pinch weld and Goodyear DuraTracs 245/75/16. Little rubbing at full lock. Will fix that soon.

I bought it new and it's been a decent Jeep, I guess. I've been stuck places and such but the worst was swamping the rig in deep holes that block a certain route. Lifting the rig was a must for me to continue to get places I wanted to go.

265's need LOTS of CUTTING. Try them on a gasser that you can lift more, or go smaller for the CRD, as we are limited on the lift. Rightly so, probably.

Just a sample of some of the cutting; the washer bottle had to go as well. The tire already crushed it.

I was on a pretty tight time-line as my KJ is my only DD. Its what I use to get to and from work.

I have been working on vehicles, ships and equipment all of my working life.
For certain: This lift was not an "easy" install. If you have never worked on a vehicle before, and/or don't have a decent facility with tools and/or you can watch a Utube video of an installation but posses absolutely no mechanical aptitude (Like the younger guys I work with: Utube an expert will never make.)

So, as I berate the Utube learner, I will in the next breath praise those resources available to see and prepare for certain obstacles. Especially LOST. As such, I am preparing a write-up of the lift with an eye for issues and obstacles that I encountered not detailed in other resources.

Since she will be seeing minimal off road use I went with the Daystar 2.5" lift on my 2006 CRD. Tires are 265/70 r16 Treadwright Guard Dogs. It rubbed both in front of the tire and the pinch weld, so weld is flattened and lower extremes of bumper are trimmed and tucked. I mounted a small piece of angle inside the bumper and drew the inner fender in with screws and that worked very well. It rubs the frame a bit at full lock, but I think 1" spacers will fix that.

hey all, new to this section. So here goes the most common question? is the rustys spacer kit worth it just for extra clearance and the occasional off road? Better yet, is a clevis/conduit lift worth it for the same purposes? and if so, where does when get these conduit nuts and whatnot?

This is the day I got it. You can still see the dealer plates on the front lmao

Got the 2" OME lift with 265/75R16 Nitto Terra Grapplers. They rubbed ALOT. I pounded the pinch weld & cut the flares front and rear. Front still rubs if I turn full lock. Rear rubs a tad if I goto full flex. Will prolly lift another 1" to clear up all the rubbing in the future.

Pic is a crappy cell pic, sorry.

2.5" OME Frankenlift
245/75/16 Maxxis Buckshot MT

I didn't have to pound the pinch welds at all but with the TJ bumper on the front I already had trimmed a good amount of the wheel well. Still rubs at full lock. But honestly I wish I went with 265, because with my TJ front bumper I feel like I could probably fit them. And I dont mind some rubbing 8)

But you won't have to regear with 245-75s so run them and enjoy!
