Post subject:  rusty's .75 front poly spacer

tried to install the .75" poly spacer that go between the strut and lower plate.
i tell you those poly spacers seem WAAAAAY to big to fit, and we couldnt get the springs to compress enough for the spacer to even fit. if we DID get them to fit, it would seem like the strut would not be long enough to accomodate the extra length of the spacer. i called rusty's and they assured me that this was the correct spacer ( i thought they may have sent the 2" spacer since it was so big ) and that it would fit with the 2.5" coil lift...

anybody ever use these together with the 2.5" coil lift? i need some re assurance that they will fit and not bottom out the strut, even though they seem huge...

Yeah man, Rusty .75" poly spacer is quite large. I was afraid you might have that problem. Rusty's spacer is identical to the 1.5" Daystar spacers used in the Frankenlift. Not sure why he calls it a .75" spacer.

To make it fit you need a different top plate that lenghts the strut assembly. That is how the squeeze the spacer and lift spring together in the Frankenlift.

so it would be wise to return the poly spacer and get the upper stru plate?
i didnt see any strut extension plate on the website.. the only thing i did see was the strut spacer plate that goes on top.

maybe i can cut some of the meat off of those poly spacers which will make them fit.
it sure does seem like the strut will be bottomed out all the time if you installed them as is.. those things are huge.

jees, im gonn have to end up getting a front only franky..

You are probably right they will be topped out the whole time because of too much pre-tension, which would result in a poor ride. The only different top plate I've seen has been from Daystar. I'm not sure if All-J would even sell you just the top plate. The different top plate allows the strut to stretch out more so you can squeeze the spacer in.

The strut spacer plate that goes on top will give you a little less than 1/2" lift and might work. However, either way if you extend the strut assembly too much you are going to have upper ball joint contact problems. You either need a set of Als-A arms or fabricate a extension bumpstop.

I'd really try and see if you can get a heavier set of springs from Rusty. Going to be more money than a spacer, but probably easiest and best way.

Ive had the Rustys springs and the OME springs side by side and they were the same length. I never could figure out how I was getting more lift with the Rustys springs then the OME springs since the OME springs had a higher spring rate.

haha, sorry for the OT. ANYWAY, if you did the the Daystar upper plate and put the spacer you have in there, you will probably get more lift than you would with the franken lift, which would be bad.

Im fairly sure they will sell just the plate. I called them before Christmas to see if I could buy just the spacer and the plate and they said they would sell those to me. I was thinking about making the Franken lift since I already had the OME springs, but I decided to get the Rustys springs. :)
