Does anyone know exactly what parts were changed during 02 that made the Liberty sit lower? Just the clevis maybe? Were the prelowered drivelines stressed the same or more with aftermarket lifts? Or is this a moot point when lifting new models? Surely they didn't change everything. I would think the most logical would be just the springs and maybe the front clevis and no change to driveline angles rather than a major retooling. Brent |

I believe it was just the spings is how the prelowered is an extra inch higher than the 03's but by now it wouldn't matter because that inch of extra height has prob saged over time. I believe that is the only difference. |

There are two things that were changed: 1. The Spring height was changed to give a "3/4 inch" drop 2. The Power Steering assist profile was revised to give more assistance in slow speed situations Both of these revisions improved on the pre ESP era roll over mitigation as well as reducing the effort required to turn the steering wheel in parking lots. Then of course after the 2003 model, you got a different transmission, rear disk brakes and a few other minor tweaks like the extra breather filter in the air filter box. The Driveline was probably less stressed because that was how the vehicle was originally designed. |

Since I own a 02 pre-lowered, if I ever had the replace the shocks/springs couldnt they be replaced with the ones I currently have or am I no longer "pre-lowered" once they are replaced? I guess what I am asking is, how can I maintain that extra 1" if I ever had to find a replacement? Thanks |

I think that the dealership would have to replace the current springs, that came equiped from the factory, with identical ones simply because that was how the vehicle was built. |

Gotcha, I always wondered that since they essentially stopped making them if the parts would still be available. Or, if there was a better replacement that would still allow for the 1" difference. |
