Post subject:  Help installing Frankenlift

Ok guys, I'm in a bad bind here. I've got the front of the KJ apart, Al's arms in, the passenger's front assembly in place but I can't get the a-arm to connect back up to the lower control arm. If I place a jack under the lower arm it just jacks up the whole KJ. Any suggestions? It's getting late and I still have the other side to do and this is my daily driver.

I've heard of using a rachet strap to pull it in place to get that bottom bolt back in.

So you cannot get the upper balljoint back into the knuckle? Jack up the Jeep from the lower control arm, then push the upper arm arm down into the knuckle.. If you cannot push it down enough, use a ratchet strap.

If you dont get it back together, call a friend.. :)

Matt-

Did you ever get it back together?

getting the ubj connected back to the knuckle can be a real PITA. Not sure I can lend any advice past what you've tried, except good luck.

Got the KJ back together late last night. The ratchet straps worked to get the clevis to go back to the connection on the lower control arms. We were just concerned about putting that much pressure on the straps and the strut assembly. To get the upper control arm connected we had to use multiple jacks to get one under the lower control arm at the right leverage point so we were compressing the strut assembly and not lifting the whole Jeep. All in all this was nearly a 14 hour job to put in a locker, a-arms, quick disconnect, and Frankenlift. Probably would have gone much smoother had we not had a few tools break when we were trying disassemble the front end. Some of the bolts were torqued way too tight.

All in all only one part broke during the whole install and that is the plastic 1/2 tube connected to the airbox where that little sponge filter is (follow the rubber tube out of there till you get to the T connection and that T connection is where it broke). Now I have to figure out how to put that back together. Hopefully I can do it with some brass connectors and replace the broken plastic segment with a bit of fuel line hose. Anyone know what that air intake is for?
