Here is part II of the story. Since RC lift was installed the car had to be aligned 4 times, still not perfect. The front Struts are blown, i can push down with one hand and i am not that strong. So its been replaced 700 with CV boot covers which are gone as the result of the excess wear from the RC kit. So far the total bill is a little over $2000 spent on getting this lift installed and working properly.

RC says that there lift kit didnt cause all these problems, i dont agree since it was all fine before the kit was installed so we shall see what my lawyer says.

Overall price tally:

390 for the kit including shipping.
450 for install & Bleeding the brakes since they had to remove the linesto get it right
90 for alignment #1
70 for alignment #2
00 for alignment #3
700 for 2 front struts (Including new Rancho Shocks)
250 for CV boot joint covers
150 for labor

Over all grand total: 2100

I think i should have got the frankenlift or the 9" lift out there since i am half way there...

i hope this info helps. as far as i am concerned... no more RC business from me

I am sorry that people have to be so wrong about selling stuff. They are in it for the money not the quality. People like that really (*#&$# me off!

Good luck with the lift though!

OUCH...sorry to hear that! Who installed it for you? I hate to defend RC because I have been screwed a few times in the past from certain manufacturers...but I would have to think this is an isolated problem from RC? Anyway, hope you get things back in order and have your KJ out soon.

I've had my Rough Country Lift since February. That's 7 months.
It cost $390 including shipping. I had it installed at the dealer for $100 and an alignment cost $60. No mention of brake lines. It's been aligned ever since. The front struts and CV boots are fine. My only problem was that they didn't send me the rear spacers until I called and asked for them. They sent them to me for free. I also added the helper springs(air bags) for another $75.

Overall costs $625

Just thought it would only be fair to see another situation regarding the RC lift.

Folks dont get me wrong the guys are real nice there, since i have spoken to a few of them, except this last time when i called, i forgot his name but he said "its not our fault and our kit wouldnt do that" so i am not happy but working on getting the jeep in order and back up and running.

Once the Rancho's have been installed its so much nicer, its actually a stiffer ride no more boating.

Come on now fellows. This is taking a turn for the worse and now you all are starting to take jabs at each other. Remember, it's all fun till someone gets hurt so don't make the mods open a can of "lock up" on you. :D

I think the problem with the RC kit is that it is to tall (looks like about 4"). I have had the Rustys 2.5" kit (it is realy only 2")(OTT front spacers +poly rear spacers) for over 10,000 miles now without any problems. I have a 2004, what years are yours? I clear 245/75-16s just fine with the Rustys.

Ok, another point of view. IF you paid with your credit card, say a AMEX card, you get 90 days of "satifaction". Now, I can't say that car repairs are covered but I think aftermarket parts are. So, if your paid for a product you purchased online, and it's been within the alloted "satisfaction" zone, I would be calling up the CC company and puting the amount in dispute till "Rusty" steps up to the plate. However, now I would be thinking if putting a 4in lift on a Liberty is:
1. A good idea
2. Really worth it
3. A good idea...

Maybe the money would be better spent to get a older jeep and mod the heck out of it. Then you will have one normal jeep and one play jeep. JMO. Have you taken your rig to a professional offroad shop and have them look it over? I'm sure it would be cheaper then 300.00 for a cv joint to get someone to look it over before you spend more..

Hey My 02 KJ,

How's that 3.7 running with flowmaster, K&N, gutted cat and powerchip???

Tell about the power chip,, cost? HP increase? mileage?

A gutted cat must play hell with your emisions,, no exhaust check where you live?

How's it sound?

Your KJ must be pretty zippy,,

Get muddy
