Upper ball joint spinning

Post subject:  Upper ball joint spinning
Just removed one strut this afternoon and had some trouble due to the upper ball joint spinning when unbolting the ball joint,Is this normal?I had to hold the exposed part with vise grips to fully remove the bolt.

Tommorow for the other side I'll leave weight on the ball joint when unbolting,Anybody else have the same problem?

You will need to loosen the balljoint nut with a wrench while holding the bottom of the balljoint stud with a 10mm wrench(that's why the bottom of the OEM balljoints have that "nut" on the bottom of the balljoint stud).It's a pain but get's the job done.

I've had that problem with a tie rod end before trying to get it tightend back up. I just put pressure on it with a pry bar and hit it with an air gun. It went right on then.

Thanks again,I semi stripped the 10mm on the bottom of the ball joint - it was really tight,hopefully there's meat on it to hold when I put it back together.

If you can try using the box end of a 6-point wrench or you can use a 6-point socket to.

10mm and 18mm end wrenches get the job done, in this case. 10, 15?, 18, 21, 24 and 35 are pretty much all the sizes you'll need for the entire front suspension.

Got it done this afternoon,It was tough but everything went well,I thank everyone that helped here which made the job easier,Now if I could just learn to upload some pics..
