rustys lift questions

ordered the rustys 2.5 suspension lift today. i have a guy thats going to put the front part of the lift on for me for 60 bucks....is this cheap or about the right price? also, if i put a clevis lift on the front should i use 2 or 3 on each side? if i do a clevis lift, should i put any extra rear isolators in? i want the jeep to sit as close to perfectly level as possible. thanks

you have a choice on the clevis lift

1.for alittle more hight you should go 3 on each side & a rear isolater

2.just for levelness go 2 nuts only

I may be corrected here but thats how I understand it, I'll be doing #1 real soon with my Rusty's kit

4 conduit washers per side.

3 spring isolators for each side in the rear end.

Thats a good price. I did mine on my own but 60 is not bad for the work I had to do. Usually most shops want 300 or so, put in the whole lift. Hell is cost me 50 bucks to get the struts compressed.

I did 3 rings on the clevis and it was a little high in the front so I added one extra isolator pad in the rear.

If you want just level I would do 2 rings in the front and no extra pads in the rear. I heard more than two pads in the rear and you may get some drive shaft vibration plus they squeak. Gotta spay them with silicone lube.

If you go 3 rings be ready to buy Al's a arms to get your UBJ off the springs. I was clear (1/8")when it first went on and after it settled in now I have full contact. I have a set on order from Al. Cost 400 bucks.

This bloody lift just keeps getting more expensive.

Stray away from tire stores they will further deplete you bank account.

It seems all KJ's are different,I used 2 conduit nuts per side in the front and my front is almost an inch lower than the rear.

That's a really good price because the pain in the booty part is not just mounting the new struts and coils, it's removing all of the crap under the hood just to get at all of the bolts. Removing the strut and bolting everything back in is not that hard.

2 or 3 conduit nuts should be fine but any more then that and the strut is out of the clevis about ,75"-- 1"!!! Iam sure that if you wanted alot of lift thatthe best idea would be to use rusty's strut plate and a small clevis lift! My 2cent

Just did mine this past weekend. Used two per side and its pretty level. Looks awesome... That price is def worth it for the front. It took me about 6 hours (with a couple of trips to buy a breaker bar and 18mm deep socket 1/2 drive) to do just the fronts. The rears were simple, did both in under 2 hours. Just make sure you wedge in as many washers as you can and then tighten the crap outta the bolts top and bottom to avoid rattling.

I think the level depends on how much your lift "settles in". Mine only dropped a 1/4'' and I did a 3/8" lift on the clevis so it was a little front high.

I wonder why some settle in more than others? Variation in ths spring rates? I know the OME coils are matched so the both sides have the same rate but how accurate are the spring rates measured??

I was actually wondering if I got HD coils in the front cause it settled so little.

One extra rear pad leveled it out nice. Plus it got my gas tank a little higher and less chance of stuffing my tires until I get some bumpstop extensions.

I installed my lift on Monday and I rented the tool from Pep Boys for $40.00 which is refundable when you return the tool within 5days. I was not difficult at all. I will say the first strut took a little more time but if you take your time on the first one the second one will go a lot faster. If you have someone do it for $60 that is a good price, myself I wouldn't want to pay someone to do what I know how to do. Good luck on the install.

I actually rented the tool to get the old struts out and brought it to Midas to have the new ones compressed for $30. Having it compressed by someone else was worth it for me after messing with them for hours. I didnt wanna deal with it at that point!
