| Post subject: | TJM Bumper Install |
I got a call from Old Dominion Freight today. They are delivering my TJM front bumper this Thursday. All I have to do is paint it and install it. I'll try to take lots of pictures.

Where did you buy it from, and how much did it cost (if you don't mind me asking)? |

Best of luck mate, one thing is install it first to make sure you have a good fit then remove it and paint it and then reinstall it. If you decide to paint it first then install you are going to have to be very carful with not scratching it. |

I bought the bumper from Jackit out of Salt Lake City. http://www.jackit.com/ they are having the bumper shipped to my front door. If you goto http://www.tjmbullbars.com/distributors.htm you could find a local distributor or any distibutor I guess. You have them call TJM Bullbars and order you a T17 bumper. I did all my ordering over the phone. I know TJM Bullbars does not have the bumper listed but they just recieved them last week. I believe I paid about $800 for the bumper, $175 shipping to my front door, and $65 to uncle sam for a grand total of $1040. I am sure you could find a better deal if you called a few distributors and asked them how much they would mark up bumper. I also paid extra to have it shipped to my front door. |

Yeah good idea. I plan on painting the bumper Dandilion Yellow. I also plan on painting my fenders, skid plates, RL super sliders, roof rack and RL rear bumper the same color. If it does look good then I paint it all black. |

I visited TJM site linked above, but only saw the aluminum bull bar. Does anyone have a picture of the full bumper they make? |

Thanks. It's hard to tell from the pictures, but I assume that there is room to fit a winch inside the TJM, similar to the ARB? |

They are very similar but the TJM does not cover the stock fog lights which always bothered me about the ARB. I love the first generation ARB bullbars but I was never down with the second generation. So I went with the TJM. |

Well sorry I haven't posted on this install for awhile. I spent the better part of yesterday painting and trying to install this bumper. The bumper comes in two pieces, a sub assembly and a bumper cover. It's not terribly difficult install but it is extremely time consuming. Yesterday I applied 6 coats of Caterpillar yellow base coat and then 4 coats of clear to the bumper. Then I attatched the sub assembly to the frame. The sub assembly is atatched using 12 half inch bolts. It is definately not comming off. I also trimmed the front fenders. Tommorrow I will be wiring the lights and doing the finishing touches. All in all this install will take me about 20 hours, but more than half of that is painting. I'll post some pics when I am done. |

20 hours! holy crap! I need to see some pics, it sounds pretty crazy. How does TJM cover the gap between the bumper and the fender? |

How does TJM cover the gap between the bumper and the fender? About 10 of those were painting. As far as the bumper fender gap, it depends on wether you have the sport or the limited. The limited bumper comes down about an inch farther than the sport. I have the sport but it still looks great. It will even look better after I paint the fenders yellow. The fenders are not supposed to touch the bumper because that would scratch the paint on the bumper. |

Of course I painted it Yellow. I did 6 base coats and then 4 clear coats. I hope doing the base clear combination won't come back to haunt me but it looks awsome right now. I'll post some pics after I put it on tomorrow. |
