My cousin is trading his wrangler for a brand new compass. before doing so i was wondering if anyone knows if the alloy wheels off and 03 sahara would fit on my liberty. The wheels are 15" but i am wondering if the backspacing should be enough to not matter. He has 31" MT/R's i just can't see him trade in hehe. And i guess that's another question.... would 31"x10.5"x15" fit under a frankenlifted KJ?

Any insight would be much appreciated, before i head out to the garage : )

Those tires will fit, that is what I am running but I don't know about the rims.

I don't think there are any 15 inch alloy and only a few 15 inch steel wheels that will fit the Liberty. Even the right 15 inch wheels like the Rock Crawler 97s and the Cragar Soft 8s are very close fits, I had about 1mm or a bit more between the brake caliper and the rims inner diameter.

both wheels should be 5x4.5, and i believe the hubs are the same size.

I couldnt speak to the clearances for fender and such, best thing to do would be to try one on your jeep and see if it clears.

It's not that the wheels are diferent bolt pattern it's the fact that alloy 15" rims won't clear the brake caliphers, some steel rims(15"s) barely clear the caliphers because the steel rims are thinner than alloy rims to achive the same strength.

Yup, like I said I cannot speak to clearances.

no they will not fit
They do clear the break calipers but the backspacing is very close to the same as what is on the KJ now so they hit the steering knuckle
they would work with spacers I think

i guess i'm just gunna have to try.... ya can't win if you don't play. lol

As for him trading for a compass, he's looking to get some better gas milage and possibly start a a family. I laughed at first, but he didn't get away from jeeps altogether, i'll give him credit there

Then encorage him to get a used CRD. They run about 13-17K which is cheaper than a compass. Not to mention you gain a lot more towing power and offroadability over the compass.

Or a patriot, I read an article recently they seem pretty capable. the bigger 4cyl has around 180 horse and get 21 to 23 MPG. It is actually pretty nice, much better then the compass IMHO.
