You don't need the strut compressor on while taking the assembly off the KJ. You only need it after you have removed the strut assembly.
Remove all from the bottom (clevis) and then from the top (inside engine compartment).
You will have a complete assembly in your hands and now you will need the strut compressors to crunch it down and remove the nuts/bolts from the top plate......carefully. Make sure the thing is not pointing at anything important (your body, KJ) as you compress it, remove bolts and then slowly release it.
