Post subject:  Spidertrax Wheel Spacer w/ No Lift?

I was wondering installing wheel spacers on my liberty but I don't have it lifted yet. Does this make a diference in driving performance at all? Would it look wierd without it lifted and having spacers on?

I was thinking about the same thing, I don't think it would look weird, if anything would give meaner look. I have seen a few jeeps with spacers, with no lift, it looks great. It might also give you a bit better handling. However I am not sure about the consequences of long term spacers-running. Gotta wait to hear from pros. It could be a cheap addition that will change the look of the vehicle. I wouldn't mind putting them on with my 17" wheels, stick them out a bit for better look.

Take a look at my sig. info. I put wider/taller tire on and they rubbed. So I did the cut and pound routine and that fixed it. Then I added the spacers to give the Libby more stability (and looks better). Now the front has new rub spots. The spacers shifted where the tires hit. But, that can be fixed also. I took off the front spacers until I can work on it.

This isn't the best picture to show the spacers effect...sorry.

The Spidertrax are more adapters than spacers. Spacers use your existing bolts and the danger lies in that with the spacers on, you don't have enough stud thread to hold the wheel on. You DO NOT have this problem with Spidertrax. The spacer bolts onto the hub just like the wheel does and then you bolt the wheel on using the studs mounted in the spacer. That way all of the bolts can thread on as much or more than without the spacer. Also, some of the cheaper spacers are cast. The Spidertrax are forged aircraft-level aluminum. They are high quality and many people are running them (street and off-road) for years without issue. All of these people that are doomsayers when it come to spacers are not referring to this type of design.

More than likely, you will get some rub once you put the spacers on, but if you stay with a 235/70/R17 tire, it might not rub much or at all. As for the inspection issues, just take them off before the inspection and put them back on after the inspection. It only takes 20 minutes to take them off/on.

I have spacers on and off since I got the 02 liberty ,1.5 and 2" just make sure they are torqued 100 LB and have fun.

i had spidertrax on mine with stock tires and wheels.. and they rubbed a real little bit.. greatly enhanced handling and reduced body roll.. (all gone now with the lift) plus they make it look meaner.. and just fatter in general! dooo it! hahah

Cool, I just picked up some slightly used ones on ebay. They are going on with my lift in 2 weeks. :lol:
