| Post subject: | ARB Air Locker Switch Location |
I've finally finished installing my new gears and lockers, but have no idea where to install the ARB rocker switches.... Where'd you put them? Did you substitute the ARB switches for smaller toggles? I was thinking about either mounting them sideways on the trim panel behind the steering wheel or mounting them to a custom bracket in the center cubby. |

To the left of the steering wheel, you can pop out the small plastic trim panel and mount them there. It is a great spot for switches. That is where mine are going. |

I mounted mine on the left side of the steering wheel.Since I already have the Renny light bar switch in the left bezel I place them on the panel left of the knee bolster and directly below the renny light bar switch.Easy acess to for the wiring,just remove the left side fuse panel cover and gain easy acess to the rear of that panel for the wiring of the switches.  |

tjkj, you have any pics of what you did with your relays and such? This isn't mine, but I did much the same thing, except with 10 relays instead of 4 
Just realized I didn't put in the pic yesterday. |

Can't find pics of it again but I have seen them located on the center console mounted near the e-brake. I wish I could the find the pics, it's hard to describe but they were mounted on the side slightly in front of the e-brake handle so you could still access them. |

Craig, how in the world did you end up with 10 relays?  I'm aiming for one right now....

overkill 1 relay each for... 1 set Hella FF75s on the roof pointing forward 1 set Hella FF75s on the roof pointing forward 1 set Hella FF75s on the roof pointing forward 1 set Hella FF75s on the roof pointing Backward 1 set Crappy EBay foglights on the front bumper Air Compressor ARB Locker Master Kill Switch to turn off all the extras All the Hellas have 100w bulbs, hence individual relay for each. OK. 8, not 10

Again, that picture is not from mine, but mine looks similar, and EVEN MESSIER!!! The post right above yours lists what all is running through that compartment on mine. I have 0gauge coming in from the battery into a fuse block that breaks it into 2x 4gauge, which in turn each go into another distro block that breaks each 4gauge into 4 8gauge. Those 8gauges run through relays to all my crap. |

LOL, fair enough. I really have to get a pic or 2 of mine. Maybe I'll try to get a shot this weekend. Great thing about the newer KJs is that the panel is on hinges instead of those metal pins that the 02's have. I stole my wife's from her 06 nad put mine in hers

Guys, the center console cover pops right off. All three of them fit on the right side of the stick in verticle fashion. You'll need to cut one small piece of metal out underneath so the wiring harness fits and zip some screws into the plastic to hold it down, but it worked for me. I'll grab a picture of it today if I can. |

I put mine in the trim next to the steering wheel 
and because I didn't want to accidentally hit the front when I didn't want to, I put it on the other side. 
Has worked great for going on 5 years now. |

I'd much rather NOT have them under the hood. 1) Much less wire to use getting from the switches to the relays. 2) Cab is protected. No water or mud getting on the relays as if they were under the hood. If I could do it all over again, and I might, I'd like to find a ribbon cable I could use to run all the switches to a box under the passenger seat. Something like run individual wires to a junction box under the steering wheel, then a ribbon cable to another junction box under the seat which breaks out to all the relays and such. Just think it would be safer that way, and much easier to maintain since there are so many wires involved in my setup. |

snapped some pics with my phone during lunch. These are the relays... 
These are the distro blocks... 
0 gauge wire comes in through the firewall to a 0gauge-(2) 4gauge fused splitter. (2) 4 gauge wires each go to a 4 gauge to (4) 10 gauge distro block. the (8) 10 gauge wires each go to one of the relays to power an accessory. It's a mess. That's why I want to redo it in a self-contained box with the ribbon cable coming in and just the power outputs going out. |
