I take it is already out of the vehicle? If it is then the axle is held in with the same clip that holds the other end of the axle in the housing.Gotta pull real hard and a extra set of hands will help, other than that I dunno.Don't put the axle in a vise though,it could damage it.

Yeah-it's supposed to but mine wont. The shaft pulls out to a point (with the axle still on) then it hits the bottom of the strut. Looks like I'm going to have to remove the strut so I can get them both out to get a good hold and get them apart. I think I'll replace the bearing and seal after tonights wrestling match.

Oh okay, you don't even have the CV out of the KJ yet,yep your going to have to take the strut off so you don't tear the CV boot. The axle is very stubborn on the CV side,

Yes you need to take the strut assembly off, especially if you have the frankenlift since it's strut assemblies are about 2" longer than stock.

I only use new clips since a used one snapped while reinserting the axle. Fishing one of those clip shards out of the differential would really suck.

My half shaft CV was jammed on an a slight angle off the axle. Ended up being the clip was broken and also why I couldnt separate it, and the cause of my vibration problem. A small project to replace the half shaft clips ended up removing the suspension, pulling the axle, replacing the seal, bearing and both axle clips. The mopar replacement for the axle bearing is a piece of plastic!?!?

Runs smooth and straight now.

5066 064AA Snap Ring $1.44
5069 009AA Axle Ring $1.31
5066 066AA Seal $11.79
5066 056AA "Bearing" $13.23 (Plastic replacement for a real needle bearing??)

I see you have the frankenlift. If your half shaft does not separate from the axle, as it should according to SM and Chiltons, you'll have to remove the strut and pulll them out together like I did.

Why would they use plastic for the bearing? I believe I remember Al talking about how ignorant that was.
