Arb bumper install and other questions

Mod Mod Mods!!!!

Got my spacers on to get my MTR off my a arms and had severe rubbing on the pinch and the front well.

I did the pinch. Super easy!! Then I cut out the front of the well. No rubbing everthing is great. Then I went over some rough terrain wheeling in maryland and my right fromt MTR ripped my fog lamp bulb out breaking the housing. UHGG!! 100 bucks for a new assembly. Guess i can prowl the junk yards to find a replacement. Until then, duck tape!!!

Is there any way to mod the fog lamps to keep the tire off the bulb and plug???

I think the only answer to these problems is to just go to an ARB.

My question is how many more mods is this going to create? It seems like evertime I get one thing in line it causes other problems. Is the arb worth it or am I going to have to relocate my washer reserviour and a bunch of other crap??

You could trim out the fog area with a dremel and relocate them somewhere else, like on top the bumper like this:

Thats "freejeep". I think a few others have done this too. You could scrounge around the junkyards and get a couple 05+ rene fogs and the brackets and be all set. Then just start cutting!

I also trimmed my bumper and edge trimmed it. Search for front bumper and im sure youll find lots of pics. It came out real good, took about 5 hours. Then the next day some idiot backed into me ruining all my nice work...... then his insurance company bought me a nice shiny new ARB and fog lights so that eased the pain....

Did you need to relocate your washer reserviour or did the arb accomodate it well??

Yeah I need to get some one to hit me so I can just get an ARB from the insurance thieves.

I'm sure my fiance wouldnt mind a new car. its not worth much, so a fender bender would probably be enough....

I pulled my washer bottle out when I trimmed the bumper because it was visible. The ARB comes with a brkt that hides the bottle which I didnt use because I dont have one right now. I think i would remove/relocate the bottle either way because even the brkt that ARB provides ruins the clean look of the underside of the bumper in my opinion. I hear Pep Boys offers an aftermarket bottle for cheap that you can pop a hole in and mount your washer fluid pump. Ill prob get to that next week when I get back from vacation.

I used the ARB-provided guard plate on my install and I have no problem with the lines and looks of the plate.

This is one potential weak spot in the plate, however.

Ok! Think I am going to get an ARB!! Anyone know what size shaft D ring I need to get to mount on the recovery points?

I have only seen ARB's on other trucks and never on a Libby. ARB need to get better art work on their website when it comes to individual vehicles and how their guards fit. IMHO

Your rusty's springs are going to sag over time with that permanent extra weight on there. Its a beast.

I personally dont like how far out the ARB sticks on the front. Its kinda like a person with a severe underbite! But i understand that it is made that way to conceal a winch inside.

A 3/4 inch clevis is what you're looking for.

I dont know how much sag I will get. I did a 3 ring clevise when I lifted it and it never really sagged that much. If it does sag I will get some HD springs in there. I do not plan on adding a winch anytime soon. I could be wrong but I do not think the 90 lbs will sag that much.

Toss the steel cable and get some amsteel blue, or get yourself some HD springs.
Just a suggestion. 100 feet of amsteel blue synthetic line weighs less than 3 lbs.

The Rustys will sag over time with the ARB if thats what you have. Get the OME Heavy Dutys as soon as possible and you will be good to go! I used 7/8 inch clevis 3/4 too small and make noise bouncing around, since I like to leave mine on all the time!

I'm looking at getting an ARB for the front of my brand new Liberty Sport. Hope to have it painted and installed within a month or so.
Is my stock suspension going to sag too much right off the bat?
Since this is my commuter Jeep for here in the Northeast (Boston area) I had not planned to mod this one aside from the traffic armor. And I had not planned to add a winch immediately. Has anyone run the ARB on a non-lifted Liberty?

tomsjeep I know somewhere back in time someone put an ARB on a stock Liberty but cant remember who. Yes the stock suspension will sag over time. Why not contact ARB and ask them what to do. They are very helpful with anything you need to know. you can email them at arbusa.com, Marc Bower is the Tech Supervisor and of course ARBSeth is on here all the time also.
In Boston you need the ARB! :wink:

my wife taught at Harvard and Boston U this past year and every trip over to see her I thought I would have the opportunity to TRY MINE OUT!! :lol:

I have one on my Wrangler, and had a Yukon turn left in front of me on a rainy day... sure did tear that guy up! And the police came over to me and said "okay, show me your damage." But I only had a scratch. So yes, I need one here, and I definitely know the value of it.
I'll make the contacts you suggest, and see what they say. It would be fine if it rode okay for a year or two (until I have time to get the Wrangler mods in place, lift, etc.) and then had to be changed out.
I can't say enough how great this board is... I really like my Liberty, even though I am also just as fond of my Wrangler (it's an '02 Sahara, and is very nice). I'd just prefer to keep the Libby more stock-ish and use it as a commute vehicle. The Wrangler was just too much hassle to wrestle it to work and back everyday (I have a 26 mile commute each way).

I mounted an ARB on a stock 06 KJ Sport and while I did not notice any significant drop in height it is lower than other KJs I have seen and I have not mounted the winch yet...

Mounted in a couple of hours (with 2 people) and did not require moving the washer tank.

Tried to put 245s on there and got pretty significant rubbing on the front in turns so am going to put the Frankinlift on there for the 2.5 which if everything I hear is correct should get me between 3 and 4 actual.

Thanks, that's good news.
I will eventually add a rear bumper and lift, but just didn't want to go into all that immediately.

when i put my frankenlift on i went from having 6" from skid plate to ground to having 12". i only got the 2.5 from top of tire to bottom of wheel well, but the way the front suspension works it raises the middle more.

What size tire are you running?? My thought was to take a measurment of the bottom of the bumper before the lift and then check the height after - it is good to hear that your "bottom" clearance was increased as much as it was. Have taken mine out a couple of times and have to be very careful at this point due to the lack of clearance.

After the rear bumper install my next biggie is the lift.
