I got a chuckle from this. Here's the wife's view going up CJ5 Hill at Camp Jeep. Pay no attention to the wife's squeals or my wise arse comment to the spotter who was "concerned about the KJ making it up."

You call that a obstical? I've seen bigger speed bumbs,of course a KJ can make it up that,heck a Compass probally could. |

That was the signature obstacle on one of the advanced trails. I should have done it in reverse.

OK, please remember that Camp Jeep trail runs are designed for stock Jeeps and drivers who's only experience with off-road is when they pull up next to the soccer field for theor kid's practice. If you go to Camp Jeep to wheel, well, you will be disapointed. Try a Jamboree or your local KJ club. Also remember that their are a lot of lines to take. If you know the lines well, like the spotter at CJ5 hill, you will walk up. On the 1/2 day they didn't have him as a spotter, they had to winch 7 Jeeps up that slippery thing (he only winched 4 the entire rest of CJ07) On my trail ("K") we had a rock ledge obsticle that had 4 lines plus the bypass. I could get any Jeep up one of them, some non-locked jeeps up a second, but the last two were only for those with lockers and 33's (remember that all CJ trails are for stockers). So we had lines for those who wanted a chance to break something
All that said, with the wrong line I couldn't get up CJ5 hill, but on my second try, I had the right line and it was like driving up into the mall... ps - they much have changed the link, because I get the timon thing too... |

Moose I am with you, most think if they are going to a Camp Jeep that it will be hard core wheeling which it is not. It can be, but like you stated it is for people to try out what their Jeeps can do under the watchful eyes of people who have wheeled a lot harder trails and know how to do it. Camp Jeeps are a marketing tool of sorts more than anything else. People who show up with 35/37s locked , loaded and ready for huge rock climbs etc are going to be disappointed. It is however a great place to meet other people who like the same things as we do. Sharing a weekend of trail riding and Jeeps. If you look at it like that then you will have a great time. Tom |

Tom Agreed. I guided the last two CJ's, and it is a great feeling to get someone with a GC or a Libby to go up a rock that a few minutes before they though only a "big jeep" (i.e., they didn't know they ment a locked CJ/YJ/TJ with 35's and skids) could make. That was "K", an intermediate, so A-J would have been somewhat harder, but still you get the stock KJ on "B" going up CJ5 hill, and it gets them excited enough to join LOST or got find a local club and start using their jeep for what it was made for. CJ's a great time, but I would only go to guide, and share offroading with others. If I wanted to "just" wheel, I'd take the same week and go to Utah or Colorado (just not to Moab at the end of July .

This is the original one. Yes, it was my 1st Camp Jeep. It was worth the experience, but a little disappointing for the 2 advanced trails I rode. Each had one main obstacle and the rest was "scenic" at best. I knew CJ's ratings were watered down to start. For the wife who never comes wheeling, she thought it was plenty (as you can hear). My son, who normally comes wheeling with me, was also a bit disappointed. |
