I got pwned.
had to get both my upper control arms replaced. Not sure what did it, but it seems like the lube inside the boot had been dried up for years and it just ground down until the ball join fell out.

I got pwned.

actually pretty close... we winched that corner up, re-seated the ball into the joint, and used a ratchet strap to hold it all together... and then I finished the rest of the trail and drove it into the garage

So if this happened at Camp Jeep, did you make the engineers look it over and fix it for you? Did you have the recall done yet when that happened? |

Not sure if they'll recall or not... they SHOULD though. they're definitely defective. I found this website *after* I had mine replaced. http://www.unsafejeep.org/ you guys might wanna get yours checked out. |

My UCA's were in worse shape than my LBJ's. I've replaced both with Moog LBJ's and Al's UCA's. Nice trail repair! Pretty cool that you were able to drive it out after that type of failure. |

When you lift a vehicle you place extra stress on the factory parts that where not replaced when lifted,these parts WILL WEAR OUT FASTER,it's life,even if you never leave the pavement you are placing extra stress on balljoints,bushings,and such over a stock vehicle.When lifting a KJ you should really replace the UCA's with Al's arms and replace the LBJ's will the HD MOOG's.Not saying Al's arms or the MOOG's will not fail but will handle the extra stress of the lift and offroading better then the stock parts. |
