Post subject:  Klunking & Rattling after lift HELP!

OK, finally got the Daystar 2.5" spacer lift installed. Took her for a spin and klunk klunk rattle rattle! This happens with very small bumps or even ridges in the road. The suspension is not flexing much at all. So, took her home and made sure ALL bolts were tight, especially the sway bar bolts. What do you guys think? It is driving me nuts! In fact, if I can't figure it out I'll take the lift off! It is almost constant and very annoying! I'm thinking upper A arms hitting coils, but when I check this area there seems to be a good 3/4 of an inch between the A arm and the spring and it is making the rattling noise with little or no flexing going on when I drive down the road. HELP! Thanks for your suggestions.

Front or rear? If all of the bolts are tight and torqued to spec, you might not have tightened the spring retaining bolt all the way. It's the little nut at the top of strut that clamps the spring retainer onto the strut.

I STILL THINK YOU GOT AN OLD VERSION OF THEDAYSTAR PUCS!

You probably have the pucs that are a true 2.5" tall from the bottom to where the fist part of the front coil hits...the revised pucs are actually shorter (about 1.75") and net you 2.5". Check with AllJs.

Ome other thing, did you put new shocks on the rear that are longer than stock? If you used the stock shocks in the rear they will not work...and you will be topping them out every little bump.

I actually ran the stock rear shocks for awhile and they were fine for normal driving. Did you install the upper strut plates from daystar?

YOU HAVE TO CHANGE THE REAR SHOCKS TO THE LONGER ONES FOR A DURANGO. The stock ones are two short and a terrible ride too. My front end still clunks on some bumps, and when the front rises after a complete stop. Don't know what it is, just kind of live with it until something actually breaks.

I installed the OME front struts and they have a longer travel than stock, I guess I am glad I did. And I have installed my stock rear shocks with the daystar rear spacers and the stock isolator with no problems, It rides great and makes no noise.(There is just not very much wheel travel) I have cheap aftermarket Durango shocks on there now for wheel travel but they ride harsh.

Thanks for your input! I'm officially an idiot. I found out that I neglected to put the rubber spacers on top of the strut plate under the bolt that attaches the strut to the strut plate. My bad! Guaranteed rattle! FIXED! :D
