I am in need of all new brakes on my 04. I want to replace both front and rear pads and rotors. Are slotted rotors better? need some thought on this and the cheapest place to buy good quality brake componets.

I'd probably only spend the money for slotted rotors if you get in situations where you need the heat dissipation ... ie multiple high speed runs with lots of braking. The expense really isn't justified for most ... imo ... also they wear different than non-slotted and will wear quicker, given same components.

I would probably second the NAPA thing .. you will probably pay a few dollars more, but the service is generally better. Really it depends on where you would be comfortable getting them from. I normally find the part numbers online before I go, so I don't have a problem going to an autozone type place. I've had them walk back more than once to get a right part number. But when I don't know what I am looking for, I go to the NAPA type places.

My guess would be to go local, and save the cost of shipping. They offer a lesser grade for people who like to price shop. But I'd suggest the better line.

There are quite a few posts on here about brakes. If you are bored you can try this thread on better braking.

I agree with Ron's advice - go to Napa and get some solid rotors. I like Ceramic brake pads more than the regular replacement pads though.

I've gotten some good prices on pad and rotors from Tire Rack.
