I recently just bent one of my running boards and was wondering if the boulder bars or any other rock rails bolt right up to where the running boards do or if you still have to drill new holes...

Thanks,
Bill

no matter what you get - any brand - you will have to drill

Drilling a few holes is still better than crushing a rocker panel

I don't really plan on rock crawling I just want them to offer some sort of protection for that area... so i'll look at the mopar rails, thanks!

Mopar Rock Rails will do. You don't have to rock crawl to do some major damage though. Stumps, logs, xxxxxxxxxxxxx, crest of a hill, can all do big damage.

they are fine as long as you are careful. you can put the full weight of the jeep on them, put a jack under them, slide on them... just dont come down hard!

I Just put on a set of sliders from rock lizard. The mopar ones aren't cheap and I've seen them bent from little stuff. For a few bucks more you get absolute protection. I came down (accidentally) real hard on them on the trail last week. Just a scuff in the rustoleum!

if you're buying new ones, you're probably better off to get something good. or get some step sliders for protection and convenience! the only reason i have mopar is because i needed them quick and cheap and got a good deal for a used set from a LOST member.

I have the boulder bars from All J's & they are awesome, I say do it once & have piece of mind & get those or an equivalent, JUST INCASE you do come down hard on something, at least you know you won't have body work to repair or have to replace 1 of the factory ones..just my .02

I would go with, NOT the factory type tube stuff. They ain't worth a crap.

If you did your lift then you can drill the holes. It does take some patience if you do it by yourself.

You'll need GOOD drill bits
Good to have an angle drill head
Sharpie - permanent marker
A beer out of reach as a goal when your finished
A jack and a 2x4 to span the length holding it in place as a safegaurd.

You might find it easier to throw the template strips in the trash, clamp it up, drill, and bolt.

Take a break then start the other side.

I drank my beer first, didn't use the jack and 2x4...It hit me in my frikin head...it left a mark!!

More peace of mind for side impact.

Oh Yeah, Don't do a half A$$ed Job...Spray paint your bare metal and Put the plastic trim back on

You could easily justify the few extra bucks for a AllJ/Rock Lizard/CRS set of bars for safety if you ever get hit in the side. Take a look at some of the picts on this site of members who got hit in the side - the rock rails helped protect them...
