haha, you are from Upstate NY...yeah BFH didn't work for me either it was just so frozen on from rust n salt. Go get some PB BLaster at your local auto store and soak the hell out of where the bearing attatches to the knuckle and let it sit. Then take the hammer to it again. Also...(not recomending this) I took a large chisel and tried to hammer it into where the bearing meats the knuckle. After a few hours of trial and error it finally came off. Hope it doesn't take you that long but good luck. |

Neatus,Neatus,Neatus,.......not only will I recomend it,but I'll even endorse it.A chisel, ground sharp, between the bearing assembly and the spindel is your best chance of seperating it.Of course be shure to wear your saftey glasses and a long sleve shirt. Most guys in our shop will just use an air chisel, but I think it boogers it up too much. And the PB Blaster is the best you can buy.Why if I did'nt know any better I'd swear you where an auto and truck tech. Thanks guys, the soaking in PB blaster worked like a charm, maybe using 3/4 of the can was a little over doing it on my part. Anyways i worked either way. The BFH was the most effective tool i used tough lol |

That works pretty good for bearing removable vehicles, ie: that's the correct instructions, except the IFS Kj's/Kk's do not have those types of bearing assemblies we have Hub units that come as an assembly when you replace the front bearings on ours, you replace the entire hub which is what they're discussing on that note, with the PB/etc the one set of kj hubs i've done, i wirebrushed the hubs, heated the hubs with a hot wrench, poured atf/acetone and let them cool off a bit One good wack with my truck hammer and they separated |

I rented a press from advance auto parts. Worked great but salt doesn't sit on my Jeep for more than a day. ![]()

Still looking for ideas? Check this thread out. http://www.jeepkj.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46865 I used a slide hammer on mine to pull the hub assembly from the steering knuckle. There is no salt used on the roads this far north so mine came out pretty easy. Lucky? Yep. |
