Has anyone had experience with the Champion 8000lb winch? I can get a new one with a warranty for $299. Is this a good deal? http://www.cpeauto.com/de8000lb_winch.htm |

I remember Roachman Dan had one of those in his ARB bumper before he sold his KJ. Personally, I wouldn't ever buy anything but a Warn, Superwinch, Milemarker, T-Max or a Ramsey. There's gotta be a reason cheap winches are cheap, namely the internal guts. The one exception may be the Harbor Freight, but that's still based upon the cheapest Mile Marker there is, and it is rated at 500 lbs less, so there must be a difference. If you ask me, a winch for $300 is too good to be true. I was happy when I got my Warn M8000 for $530 - and I was hapy to spend another $100 on syn line and make it safer. My $0.02 |

I have the champion 9500... Pulls slower than the warn, but it pulls good. At that price, how can you go wrong? |

Pulls slower than the warn, but it pulls good. At that price, how can you go wrong? The reports I read said they are adequate if you're not in a race because they are about half the speed of the Warn's. From my experience this thing will rarely be used, but they are always nice to have. Hey humpty I haven't seen any champion 9500lb winches, is it an older model? Here's a review or two. http://www.island4x4.com/4x4tech/product_review/champion_winch/index.html http://hoosierjeep.com/html/champion_winch.html |

If you want a good winch but are on a budget try looking a Tabor winches, they are made bu WARN,lots of parts so when/if it breaks you can get the parts to fix it and they have a warrenty like WARN.If that $300 which breaks you gotta get a new one cause they are probally like MileMarker and next to impossible to get parts for.Winch's are another "you get what you pay for" item,I have not used my $1000 WARN XP9500 very much but I know it will work when I do need it,and work fast. |

Hey at $300, I don't need to fix it I'll replace it. Lots of wheelers use them in Canada. My buddy has done hundereds of pulls with his, No problems. Costco sells them up here. There warranty is awesome so..... Why spend more, its a good winch. |

Smittybuilt is now selling a $299 winch thats rated at 8000#. You can get it through 4wheel Drive Hardware. It might be a little better than the Champion one and it's the same price. http://www.4wd.com/subcategories.aspx?cid=28&jeep-sid=195 |

If you're willing to buy a $300 winch, possibly burn it out and buy another, that's $600. Why not just spend $529 on a Warn M8000? |

Why not just spend $529 on a Warn M8000? Its not going to burn out. I said IF it does. ![]() I own the 9500. it has been discontinued for the 10000lb. I would never have to spend another dime. I bought it at Costco. They have a "no questions asked" return policy. I will tell you from experience. I have used them and seen them in action. They are beefy in appearance and pull well. There ability to pull is just as good as the Warn (they just pull a little slower). The only change I made was to switch out the aircraft cable to Amsteel Blue (its safer). I would do this on a warn too. Hope that helps' |
