Hey, anyone know where I can find a dust boot for the Moog Lower Ball Joint Part #K3199? I've called everyone including federal-mogul, and am having a hard time. My current boot has a tear in it and I can't justify paying another $50+ just so I can use the boot. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Tarwhat Tarmoom Woodhaven, MI |

Many have tried and there seems to be none available unless you get a new LBJ.

Al sold me some covers that go over the entire boot and all. Mine was torn also. It doesnt hold grease as well, but it keeps crap out of the joint. Just be sure to grease them at least every oil change and after offroading. |

What seems to be the cause of them tearing? |

I had the same thing happen and could not get a boot. Some discount auto stores have generic ones that you can try. I just siliconed up the tear on both sides of the boot and have had luck so far (1500 miles). Mine tore because I wasn't paying attention on the cup sizes and with an air tool, things happen fast...darn. You could try taking one off the old ball joint if they are not torn. |

Me being stupid is what caused mine to tear. I tore my suspension apart to replace the CV halfshaft this past weekend and was careless when putting things back together. I like the idea of greasing the outside slightly when working around the area. I may have to buck up and pay the piper if I don't find one soon. Thanks for the repies, all! |

Just look at it like this: You'll have an extra ball joint if one ever wears out, just don't mess up any more boots. |

Ok, great news! As a last ditch effort, I thought I'd call JeepinByAl even though they didn't have any boots up on their website. I talked to them and they gave a search of the stock room and found the boots! They just added them to their online catalog, so anyone else that needs a set can order them. Thanks again for everyone's help and suggestions. Tarwhat Tarmoom |

Yup, thats what I have. Its just a cover that slides over the entire boot. It works ok, but its not as good as a regular boot.
This is the boot that had a hole in it. You can tell its not as plump as the other side.
