Do you need a spring compressor to install the spacer lift? I'm looking for actual pictures right before you took the springs out (if you did a coil lift) or right before you put the spacer in. We're afraid we're not going to have enough room to put the spacer in when the lca drops down (the coil will keep extending). I will be using the RRO spacer.

it will depend on if the spacer goes with in the coil/strut assembly or if it goes on top?
if it has 4 bolts on 1 side and 4 holes on the other then it goes on top just remove strut assembly and install with spacer in place
if it goes in side the best way to handle it is to remove the strut assembly bring it to a shop and let them install the spacer
you can do it with a rental spring compressor but I dont trust those things

You can remove the strut assembly with out a compressor it will not come a part on you unless you remove the bolt that holds the top plate to the strut
the spring will extend longer than the strut ,the strut is the limiting factor when it comes to extension just like a shock on the rear

I would stay away from that lift. Many people have complained about struts blowing, UBJ contact and other problems. The Daystar lifts are much better.

The Daystar wouldn't require spring compression right?

The RRO budget lift does not. I don't think the Daystar one does either but, not 100% sure. I've said it before and I'm saying it again, why not just save another $250 and get Rusty's coil lift? It'll save you about $800 in replacement parts. Trust me. I know.

Well, I don't do much wheeling...just mainly looking for clearance. I've had the struts replaced recently and don't want to do the whole thing.

Can anyone verify that the Daystar does or does not require a spring compressor?

I don't remember who it was but, I saw some bumpstops that would keep your ubj's off the springs. They were made of polyurethane sheets, wrapped around the spring at the point of contact and held onto the spring by a hose clamp. I'd highly recommend them, if you're gonna do this. Even with Al's arms.

All of my off-roading was light while I had this lift, and it still f-ed up most of my front suspension. Good luck.

I checked the daystar instructions and that does require a spring compressor.

Dje, this is WAY more hardcore than I'd ever do :):

OK not much wheelin or not statisticaly spacer lifts are not the bet choice
that being said
the only spacer lift and from what I can see ,in the available lifts thread, the only one that does not need a spring compressor is the Rocky-road 2.5" OTT or budget lift or what ever they call it
how ever keep in mind that if you just replaced struts and only want a little lift then for only about $50 more you could do an OME lift
ALL spring if Rustys still has the OME's for $100 a pair all you need is front and rear springs and rear shocks

OTT stands for "over the top" which mean the spacer goes on top of the spring assembly/top plate. The Daystar goes under the spring, inside the spring assembly. So it does require disassembling the coil. You can rent one at AutoZone (make sure it the "McPherson" coil compressor) or you can pay a shop $40 for both to do it.

That was AFTER removing the OTT lift: This is about as hardcore as I got with the OTT kit:

I'm so glad you got me to drive 100 miles to show you my lifted Renegade :x Next time just ask someone for pictures, don't misrepresent yourself by implying that you're interested in buying someone's for sale items, when all you really wanted was to see a lifted Liberty in person. I still can't believe I wasted my time, and gas money trying to be nice enough to meet you OVER half way to sell you those tires that you were allegedly VERY interested in. I did get verification from my garage, later that day that even the one (the fifth tire that I was including for free) with the chunk out of it was absolutely FINE! This was his excuse for not buying ANY of the tires I was delivering to him.

For the record, and just so I'm clear, you an unbelievable piece of crap!
