2. whats the best way to lock the spare tire in when i put it up there? i want to lock it in, not just ratchet strap it

I just fabbed some cross rails up using some uni-strut. Cost about $15 in material. I did weld some plates on the end to give it a finished look and painted it black. 8)

I did the unistrut thing as well. I will throw up some pics tonight when I get home. Here is the link i got my idea from. Only dif is I used a ubolt to conect to the rails and hen I also bedlined the unistrut and all parts. I also hae the cleman basket up there. Looks great and only cost #30. U can even dremel off the overhang if you like.

Yakima cross bars are ~ $52. They're good and strong. If you want Yakima mounts, you'll have to spend a good bit more money, but you can always hook them to the factory rails with U-bolts or something. Yakima bars come in 48", 58", 66", and 72" sizes.

when you get then, please post how they are working out.

Anyone have bar specs on the thule cross bars? I see the cheapies on ebay are 1-1/4" x 7/8" and i wanted to know if thule was the same ir if they were slightly different. I'm still looking for some crossbars so i can add a ski rack later

I just added Thule crossbars to my 05 Limited. I bought the 450 footpads that attach to the factory rails and the LB50 (50 inch) loadbars. I already had 2 sets of Thule Hull-A-Ports for my kayaks that I was using on my old Astro van and wanted to reuse them on the Jeep. the set cost me about $200 at a bike shop with another $50 if you want a lock set for them.
FYI, these are black, square rails and like to whistle on the highway. They also make a new Aero version that is more streamline with a chrome finish but they run about $100 more.

The Yakima LowRider mounts will fit the factory rails. They will cost you ~ $200. But you're pretty much limited to using the Yakima cross bars or at least round bars that are the same size as the Yakima bars.
