Post subject:  My proposed lift thread...
After reading and reading and reading numerous post, and then re-reading them (and probably suffering what I'm gonna call information-overload), here is what I've gathered is probably the best lift for my '04 Libby (in terms of longevity, ride, look, limited-or-no sag, etc.). Please give me ur opinions!

Rancho RSX 17505 front struts ($140 from Truck-n-Stuff Accessories in
Washington PA (via Lee) or $170 from All J)
Rancho RSX 17004 rear shocks ($140 from Truck-n-Stuff Accessories in
Washington PA (via Lee) or $130 from All J)
OME HD front Coils - 1.5" lift ($100 from Rusty's)
OME HD rear Coils - 1.75" lift ($100 from Rusty's)
2 (1 on each side) - Front Trim Spacers ($40 from Rocky-Road)

TOTAL w/ FT SPACERS = $520
TOTAL w/ CLEVIS LIFT (NO FT SPACERS) = $490


From what I've read, the OME HD Coils will actualy give you about 2.50" lift in the rear and I figure that between the OME HD front Coils and the Front Trim Spacers the KJ would sit pretty level.

Thoughts, comments, questions & opinions are welcome....


P.S. - If you know of any retailers that have cheaper prices on these products, please let me know as well!

Check Summit Racing for the shocks/ struts I got my rears for 50 each and free shipping at the time

Front trim spacers, not sure if you would need them at 40 bucks, just do a clevis for about 5 bucks for the conduit nuts well actually less, I think at Lowes thay are like 1.50/1.60 for 2, so cheap I always have 4 or 6 hanging in the garage and include them with a free lift installation! :wink:

OMEs are the best I think

So how is everything around Colerain/ St. C area these days, grew up about an hour south of there!

It all sounds good
I did the med. coils and no spacers and the KJ looks stock ,rake wise, but is 2" higher after 10K+
IMO go med if you have no plans for a winch/bumper combo
also check out Rustys Offroad ,they had the coils for $100 a pair dont know if they still do but if it says it on their web site then that is what they will charge you

why rancho shocks? i thought OME were better?

I intend to go ALL OME and utilize the system. Why would you not do this?

You can go ALL OME (shocks/struts) if you want. The OMEs are better shocks but also higher priced, I have had mine done for about 40000 miles now and still rides great, so not sure if and when the Ranchos wear out if I will "move up" to OMEs or just back to Ranchos.

I don't see how OME is more expensive. The rancho set up he described is over 834.00 and that is not including the spacers.

This link has the OME lift for 657.00, shocks, and springs.

How is his set up Cheeper?

Is that price the pricefor a pair of each? even still that is 564.00 for that lift. My money is still on the OME lift for the system.

CHEAPER???? 834. how do you add that up is that the new math or something? I get like 604 with the spacers? Did I miss something? I did mine for 460.00 4 HD springs, and shocks / struts ??? Yes that full system is a good price but ...??? still not good at math I guess :lol: :lol: :lol:

Like i asked is that the price for EACH component? or the price for the pair?

If it is the pair, it is still not that big of a diffeerence.

To me Ranchos do a great job, remember that when the Frankenlift came out thats what they used , well for the first 2/3 years of them building them and many people are still running them. Now if you want the best then yes go with the all OME syetem, I will not argue that point but if not then this is just as good IMO.

AT LEAST HE DOESNT WANT TO GO WITH ONE OF THOSE SPACER LIFTS :wink: :wink:

The reason they went with the Rancho's is because that is all that was on the market at the time. Now with the OME they have a set-up specifically made for the Liberty. Regardless, I have had no problem with my Rancho's but after switching to the OME's, you could definitely feel the difference. The movement is much more smooth.

Not to threadjack, but regarding the different OME kits, what load factors define what it is you need with respect to the three different Kit options Light/Medium/Heavy loads?..... Am I reading correctly that the light-load package only includes front supension Hardware?

it will depend on your taste and plans
The wife uses the KJ as her DD we do wheel it so we took the middle road
and got Med. duty springs
I also plan to put an ARB bumper on so that means med springs for sure

Light duty would pretty much be like stock, medium duty are 375 lb and heavy dutys are 400 lb (all for gassesr) CRDs of course are heavier

not sure on what is included with the light duty set up

Rustys use OME springs or struts ? Which are you talking about, thought Rusty had his own line of springs.........Think his struts are rebadged units maybe know his springs are weaker than OME

According to Seth (The resident KJ/ARB Rep) The lights are for factory bumpers and raised stock ride. I think it only includes front shocks or springs, but not both, and the rear med. set-up.

The Med. system is set up for those gassers who want to add a heavy bumper (like an ARB Bull Bar) with no winch, medium rear shocks and springs.

The HD's are for those who want the bumper AND a winch, and same rear end as above.

BUT he also told me in a previous thread that the HD's for just a Bull Bar would be ok.

The total for the setup I have listed would be $520. If I went w/ a Clevis Lift instead of the Front Trim Spacers it would be $490 (+tax & shipping of course). I would have no problem using OME rear shocks instead of Ranchos as they are only $3 more a piece, but there's no way that I'm going to cash in the extra $61 a piece for OME front Struts when Rancos would work just as well and have gotten nothing but great reviews (i.e. - it doesn't make sense to me to spend the extra $122).

Also, the only reason I picked HD coils is because it was posted on here a few times that OME HD Coils give you more height on your lift then LD or MD coils. I'm sticking w/ my stock front bumper (but may add a front brush guard later) and won't be doing any serious wheeling other than light trails. Anyone have any input regrarding this (HD coils vs. MD coils vs. LD coils; FYI, I'd like to get as close to a stock ride as possible but foremost want minimum sag)

Same as always... I actually just moved back here after living in C-bus for 4 years and not a darn thing has changed. Nice farm country tho and I absolutely love the hills (especially on my bike!).
