I am looking to get some skid plates on my KJ for a reasonable price. I heard here on the forums that the Mopar engine skid comes at a low price but the real cost is ground clearance. This led me to the Skid Row site wher I am wondering if that engine plate will mesh with the Transmission, T-Case, and Gas Tank skids from Mopar? Ideally I would love to get all Skid Row ones but for now I need something under there for the right price.

You can mix and match. I've got the two Mopars, one All J and one Kilby and life is good.

I think alot of people mix and match. Nanette...do you have the Kilby gas tank skid? I think thats the only one they make? I've heard those are good quality...how has it held up?

I've been slacking when it comes to skids...I have yet to get the tranny,t-case, or gas tank skid. Mopar/Chrylser discontinued the older model skids so I'm guna have to find someone who's getting rid of them...

Yep, the gas tank skid is a Kilby. The Mopar one served it's purpose for a while though. It's much thinner metal and is all beat to heck and dented. I've got some gouges on the Kilby but no dents. It's a great skid.

The OEM front engine skid and transfer case skid are fine, but if you're going near anything that may really hurt ya, go for after market tranny and gas skids. Just cause you can. They cost more but you can tell why as soon as you pick them up. And buy rock rails!

Or just don't hit things that hard.

I sadly know the consequence of NOT having boulder bars.... :(

I wheeled a few times without em' and my rocker panels wished I hadn't...ah well, trail scars are just a Jeep thing I guess!!

for a cheap fix so you can spend some $$ on other protection for now ... I have the stock front engine skid that came on my 05 CRD ... and location is right ... I am in GB too ... I'll be home on friday ... so you could pick up this weekend if you want it ... and the price is right too (free)

let me know if you want it. I tried to give to another fellow member, but traveling and my baby never made it practical.
