Went down a steep hill and slowed down to check clearance and the one back tire left the groung and pivioting it we kinda a werid feel and scared the day lights out of me. Scariest thing for me is the first time I got air in my CJ-7...and the booty end came up higher than the front. THAT was interesting...but it wasn't that bad.

In the KJ I haven't really gotten scared...but i like that rocking horse feeling when you're flexed out and one front tire and one rear tire are making contact and you can shift your weight in the drivers seat and make either of the airborne wheels tag terra firma:D

Our first trip to the Coke Ovens I was going down a rock ledge and got a little tipsy:

Luckily Vern got me out of it with no problems. It's always best to have a spotter to help you out, even if all they do is close their eyes and pray

Post subject:  Scarry My first time out

It was a couple of weeks ago I met up with Diggerfreek and KJ4ME over at Buckly . I was a little nervous knowing I only had the factory engine skid and nothing else!!! The first run was a nice little incline in what I would call a gully wash, Digger went first no problem, then told me give it a try my fist run should have been in 4Lo instead went 4Hi got almost to the crest and just started spinning backed back down after creating one real nice big dust cloud and making some breautiful sound out of my magnaflo exhaust. But a lot of noise and a big cloud of dust does not get you up the hill digger was ready to tie a tow to me and pull me out. Knowing I have nothing to hook a tow to I wasn't going to quit this easily so I turned around went back the way I had come got to the top and tried again from a different angle. I made it but here was where I scared myself, when I went over the crest on my second sucesseifull run when my front came down and bounce my big over sized box in the back poped out of it's harness my tilt streering wheel latch droped into the open position. Now I have my box all the way in the back ejecting its contents all over the back seat and every where else and my steering wheel is now swinging all over the place and I'm still bounceing on over the top of the crest.
Afterwards I got more of the hang of it with the encouragement of Digger and KJ4Me. But for one split second when I had no control of my steering wheel and everything in the back of the JEEP is trying to get in the front of the JEEP, I wondered is this another one of those what have I gotten myself into moments??? Naah! it was fun and I had a ball, now since I've gotten home it's I've got a lot of work to do on my JEEP for next time. Was I scared HE!! YES will I do it again HE!! YES

Great shots, Sini love that spare tire "cover". Wish I could be myself one of them.

The first scary incident I had in the KJ was about three months after I bought it. I was driving down the highway in the left lane and the guy in the center lane decided to get into my lane only apparently he didn't look first. So to avoid getting hit, I headed for the shoulder. Luckily there was no guardrail and I swerved a little to far and ended up going into the grass median. At first, I was like- whew I didn't get hit, then it dawned on me that I was still doing ~60 on the grass so I hit the brakes and ended up skidding a little sideways because the grass was still wet from the previous nights rain. After I calmed down for a minute I tried to drive back over to the road edge but the tires had dug themselves into a little rut. So this also turned out to be my first use of 4 wheel drive. I popped into into 4 hi and got out of the ruts and headed back down the road still shaking a little bit.
That three wheel thing is cool too. I've done it plenty of times in the KJ. Now the scariest thing in the LJ was one time off camber with the doors off and I thought I was going to fall out. I could just about stick my foot out the door and touch the ground. (I can't do that when it sits level.)

One scary situation happened on a local highway several months back. Middle of the afternoon, sunny, no wind. Very little traffic.
I have cruise engaged just a few klicks over the limit.
A semi tractor catches up behind me as we get close to a hill, and he pulls out to pass. I'm watching carefully.
Halfway up the hill, he loses momentum while he is about parallel with my door.
Car pops over the hill.
Semi decides to take my lane.
Throw out the anchors! I'm nearly smokin' the brakes trying to not get killed.
As it was, I had to just about take the ditch to get out of the way. That was too bleedin' close.
I was steamed! The truck had mud covering every identifying characteristic including the license. I tried to follow but he kept it floored, zig-zagging past the few cars we came to. He cut off two other guys in the next half hour or so. Finally I let it go.
As for off-road, the first time I went down a REALLY steep trail with big ruts in it. 4-LO, low gear, really slowwww.
Felt GREAT so I did it again. 8)

My first scary ride was on a muddy mountain road with my right rear creeping toward the edge of a 1/4 mile down bank and not being able to get it away. I finally figured out that AWD was not a good choice of 4WD options since it was an issue of back trying to pass front. Part-Time 4WD solved the problem along with extra strength Tide to clean my tighty whities.
