and i'm pretty sure you have to either buy new tow hooks, or make your own bracket, for safety reasons i'd probably get new ones, or replace those with a front Hitch.

I have just the front brackets no hooks or bolts. Let me know if you want them, just cover the postage and package.

Look if you are bending and breaking hooks and brackets then you REALLY need to take an "Off-Road 101 course"
We pull full size rigs side ways with OE Jeep hooks even up and out of ruts and the hooks dont bend
I have pulled a 7K+ LB fork lift that was "framed out" ,tires not touching the ground, with the front hooks on the KJ with no issues so ya'll must be doing something wrong

There have been many times I've been stuck it took 15-20+ serious tugs to get me out. I always hook up straps to both of my tow hooks anytime this kind of pulling is necessary, and still they got bent some how. I really don't appreciate you questioning my "off-road" skills, but even so I don't get how it would even apply here.

I should also mention that not only are the brackets bent, but the frame (or whatever) where they attach is twisted up as well. Thanks a lot USPLibby for sending me your brackets, it's greatly appreciated.

First if it is taking "15-20+ serious tugs" to get you out and this has happened "many times" then that right there is why you should take a 101 course because they will teach you your limit which you did not learn after the first time and got stuck a second time and bent you unibody ,that is what it is called
now new brackets and hooks and what ever will not repair this but only be a "bandaid fix"
you see once you bend the unibody then it becomes week and now chances are good what ever you bolt in that area will pull off and could cause some one to get hurt or even KILLED
which you will also learn about in a 101 course

The proper way to remove a rig that is stuck this bad is
#1 winch ,100X better than a strap and the result would have been no bent any thing
#2 a strap but from a rig strong enough to pull you not take "15-20 serious tugs" if 1 rig can not do it then strap another to the front of him and if 2 can not do it then go find some one with a winch


But hey what would I know I only TEACH A 101 course

It is this attitude that I see all the time
The "dont tell me how to wheel I know what I am doing"
which is the followed by a "watch this"
that leads to broken or stuck rig and me being the dummy that I am will help the other dummies fix their rig
even though I told them that they could not make it and if they tried some thing would break or they would get stuck
The things that they and you dont know is that off road it is 75% driver 15% rig and 10% the will of the off road gods
I would suggest that if you dont plan to take a 101 course then you do some serious praying or buy a different trail rig

Yes the "serious tugs" are more than likely bending everything from the frame to the hooks, never should you take 15/20 jerks to get a vehicle out, seen too many windshields broken out, near misses of strap coming through windshields due to all the tugging, if you are in bad enough that it is doing that to the KJ then you need a winch or someone in your group does.
I have seen several hooks broke and bent in over 30 years of wheeling BUT I have never bent one pulling anyone out or bent theirs no matter how stuck.
Not getting on your case.... just have to be careful, would hate to see you get hurt while out having fun!

wow... easy on the guy damm... lol... 1st off to settle this case no1 eles knows what really happend and no1 eles here saw the kj stuck nor watched it pull.. so yes everyone is open to there thoughts but the bottom line is... every "STUCK" is different then ur last one. so no1 person knows whats right or wrong... sometimes in the STUCK case yes it takes some balls to the wall to get u out or it sometimes takes the nice and steady is the key... yes jerking bad but sometimes its needed... bottom line IN LESS u was there let it go... u dont know what really happened... im not trying to play the mean bad guy just saying sometimes whatever it takes is the key... no 101 course is needed... besides ONLY WAY U LEARN 4x4ing is DOING IT And messing lots and lots of sh*t up and watching other ppl break sh*t so... go out there wheel hard and learn.. :)

Zeks...no offense...but try not to butcher the English language. You're not text messaging your homies, you're on a forum where people will make assumptions about your intelligence based on your communication. We have people from other countries on this board that are able to type a nice, concise, decipherable message without making us try to read what they wrote four times to try to understand it. Please, try to use some punctuation, and this isn't a text message.

Also, Zeks, I've been off roading for 20 years (started with my Yamaha YT60L, WEE) and when I graduated to things that couldn't get un-stuck by hand, I learned that it's too much F'n work to go beyond your rig's limitations. my worst stuck, it took a gentle pull from a 3/4 ton big block Chevy dually...my CJ was buried past the top of its 31s in mud, and it was up to about the middle of the headlights. if you NEED to get YANKED hard, Tom and Jason are 100% right...my last stuck, today, took a gentle tug from another KJ's front tow hook. the last one before that, I get pulled out by a drunk guy on a Honda 600ish cc 4wd ATV (THAT was interesting)

simple rule of off roading...if you're not bringing somebody with a bigger rig, MAKE SURE it's with somebody that knows what the hell they're doing...

ON the front, the Tow hooks are attached to a stamped out piece of metal, that is what i thought he was refering to as a bracket, the M-bolt doesn't actually go through the Hook, its connects to the "Bracket"

Darn guys, you are all professionals here, I see? :) Yes, that's what I was referring to as the bracket. What else would you call it? Usually when I go wheeling it's just me and my step brother, and he has an S-10 blazer with a 4.3. Neither of us have a winch, so I'm not sure where I'm supposed to find one to use? :(

Jason Thompson, the area that I got stuck in a few weeks ago that bent my brackets, is an area I made it through before. I had General Grabber AT2s the last time I made it through the mudhole, but when I put my Maxxis Bighorns on they dug right into the mud instead of skating over it like the Grabbers did. Please get to know your facts before you go judging people. I am always very careful in choosing where I go wheeling and do not go places I think I'm going to get seriously stuck...

Interesting posts, to say the least.

Every "stuck" situation IS different. Mine could have been avoided if I had been paying better attention.

I got stuck in a deep mud hole that I thought was a different one. But, I also didn't watch the line taken by a Wrangler in front of me either. Bad mistake! It took 1/2 hour to get out of it. A guy with a Wrangler tried to winch me out but all that happened was he was getting pulled into me. Then they hooked 2 Wranglers together and tried to pull me out. That didn't work either. I was high centered, all tires spinning even at idal. They finally got me out by jerking about 1 inch at a time. Everyone figured I was setting on a stump or something. Could be. I took a different line after I got out and went right through. There was 7 Jeeps on that ride and myself and 1 Wrangler were the only ones NOT lifted. We both got stuck. But, it was fun!! :lol:
