| Post subject: | 265/70R16 with Frankenlift |
I'm getting the Frankenlift II Premium installed this week with Al's Gen 4 arms and an extra isolator on each side in the rear. I'm probably going to be slightly higher than normal up front because the fiberglass hood is considerably lighter than the stock hood, and may end up having to put 2 extra isolators on each side in the rear to level it. I have a set of Rubicon Moab rims (16X8 5" BS). I've been trying to decide between 265/70R16 Destination AT's and 245/75R16 Load C Silent Armors. I have 245/65R17 Destination AT's on 17X7.5 5.5" BS rims right now, and they have done extremely well for me with very little rubbing on the fog light doors and don't come near the pinch welds. I would really like not to have to pound the pinch weld or do any cutting. If I have to pound or cut, I definately want to get the 265's on it, but would go with the 245's if it meant I wouldn't have to. I prefer not to do any cutting until next year when I'm thinking about doing the RL bumpers. I would greatly appreciate opinions and advice from you all that are running similar combinations. |

I have a 2.5" Lift on stock rims and with the spacers I rub on flat ground with 245/75/16s. I doubt you could fit the 265s without major trimming. |

Where are you rubbing? Fog lamp doors, pinch weld, or both? |

Generally both areas get rubbing, and pounding the pinch weld over flat is an easy job. For the fog light area, heat and push the plastic forward a bit. |

Both. I could have done what k04 said but remember this is on flat ground. I figured my suspension articulated more than the 1/2" I could push in the front. I've already ruined a set of tires due to rubbing, so I'm waiting for more lift. |

If you plan on taking it offroad then I wouldnt run the 265/70/16's. I pushed the foglight doors in when offroad with my 255/70/16 tires when I had them. The extra width causes the rub and back that with those moabs, you would get some nasty rubbing without trimming. I would stick with the 245/75/16's to save performance and clearance. |

Sounds like I'll be going with the LT245/75R16 Silent armors. I like the fact that they are Load C and severe snow rated. I won't really be offroading, but they do see a little rough treatment when I'm out at the range. The 1.5 lane hilly gravel roads can cause a decent amount of articulation when you're passing someone going the other way if you don't slow down from 20 mph. They also absolutely have to get me to my weekend ski trips during the winter. Thanks guys. |

go with 265/75/16's.. that's what i have and they have been amazing with very little rubbing (after trimming).. i have a frankenlift and an extra rear isolator on both sides.. it may look a little higher in the front at first but it will drop a lot when it settles.. |

I didn't want to go quite as big as 265/75R16's, but how much work do you think it would be to get the 265/70R16's under it? |

You'll have the same amount of rubbing with the 265/70/16 as you will with the 265/75/16, or should I say. Everything you need to do in order to fit 265/75 you need to do to fit a 265/70. I've got the 265/70/16's on 16x8 Soft 8 5" BS & have just about pounded & trimmed everything you possibly can to make them work. The only thing left to do that will help is more lift. Oh, and yes I take mine off road so I had to do a lot of pounding. |

Sounds like I should probably go with the 245's until I can get hold of some RL bumpers and repaint the Libby. Then go with the 265's. That's going to be next summer or fall though. My extra money goes towards skiing in the winter, and pays taxes in the spring. |

I run 265/70/16 with my frankenlift II and an arb front bumper. I had very little rub at full lock on the sway bar and the fog light doors. I originally wanted the 245's but they were not available for 3-4 weeks when I was shopping, then someone pointed out the only difference is the 265 is about 3/4" wider than the 245 but otherwise they are virtually the same. IMO I would go with the 265's |

so if you got 245/75 on a lift, you should be fine with no trimming then? |

265-75 X16 is 31.8 inches tall 265-70 X 16 is 30.7 inches tall 245-75 X 16 is 30.5 inches tall so some difference in heighth, not like some say that the 245 and 265 are the same also I am running 255-70X16s (30.2 inches tall) on Rubicon Moabs and when I am stuffed on the rear I am almost tearing the rear flairs off, last trip you could really tell on the sidewalls that it was almost cutting in. Yes they can say all they want go ahead and run them but if you want something just to put on and run with no problems then i would go 245-75s It all comes down to what all you want to do to run them Tom |

Took my 2nd vacation day this year and got it all installed today. Sorry, too late for pictures tonight because it's already dark. I'll do them tomorrow. I went with the 245/75R16 6 ply load range c Silent Armors on the Rubicon rims. They don't rub on the pinch welds, but rub a little on the fog lamp doors at full lock. I think I can just heat gun and push them back far enough not to have to do any trimming at all. The front is slightly higher in the front since the guys that installed the lift replaced the upper rear spring isolators with the new set instead of adding them. Kind of mad about that. I told them when I got there, reminded them an hour into it, and asked them to check to make sure they added them instead of replacing the originals before I left. They said they checked to make sure and both sets were on, but the old set is in the box of parts they took off. I'm going to wait a couple weeks to see if the front settles enough to level it off. It will be that long before I'll have time to go over there and have them install them anyway. Looks really good IMHO. Thanks for the advice. |
