There is a local Jeeper that is fabricating a Hi-Lift mount that is usable on TJs, JKs and KJs. It goes on the spare tire mount. Thought I'd go ahead and get an interest for him to see if he would have a market here for those of you that have Hi-Lifts and would not like them up on the roof or inside your KJ anymore....

Here are some pics...

Right now the guy is working on getting a paypal setup for those that would truly be interested in one of these. PM me if you would like more details or a spot on a list to get one...THANKS!!!

Looks like a great idea!!

HOW MUCH????

And how much weight does it add to the spare tire mount on the KJ's I don't have a high lift jack, yet... but what do they weigh?

I like the removable mount. GREAT idea!!

Can he make the studs for the high lift the same thread as the spare tire studs? that way you only need your tire wrench to remove it? I know alot of people (myself included) have spare lug nuts from locking lugs being installed.

You will get lots of ideas thrown in opn here, be prepared.

So where's the RL rear bumper?

Those of us with RL's spare tire license plate mount would have to come up with a new place.

I was thinking mount it through a hole in the Hi Lift but then it would be a hassle to remove when you needed to use the lift.

I don't know why you would need a hiflit on a stock KJ. Just to use as a come along? You would rip the bumpers off if you tried to jack it up like that. I have one for my Montero, but only use it when I have to. They can get a bit wobbly most of the time a bottle jack works the best IMO

It was on a stock libby just to show that it functions properly with the tailgate and glass open, so then those that do have a modded Libby that would like one can see that it functions alright in either direction...FYI

Will the tire mount take the extra weight longterm? I thought we had people having problems on earlier modded rigs with just the extra tire weight.

Looks like it could be used to mount a Jerry can if u didn't want to use the Hi-Lift. Also an stepped extension off the trailer hitch receiver could be used to support some of the weight.

Well here is the best pic I could fine on my work computer of my rig with the Hi-Lift mount. Works very well, no shaking or vibration noises heard yet, very beefy construction. I'm looking at possibly rigging up some sort of jerry can holder onto the mount as well, but we'll see what happens. The spare tire mount and tailgate all appear fine so far as well.

Image

The lift is now in the vertical position since my Dad walked into the lift when it was in the horizontal position and cursed the darn thing.

I like the idea! :D You can easily remove it for security purposes.

I've been wondering where I could put my HiLift on my YJ but never even considered putting one on my KJ.
Can you actually use a HiLift on your KJ?

if you have rock rails you canuse the hi-lift on those but make sure to do it with the door open due to the angle teh hi-lift will make when in that position, you don't want your door getting dented....you can also of course use their tire adaptor on the KJ too, or if you have an ARB or other aftermarket bumper you can perhaps use it on those or even in a hitch reeiver if you have one of those
