Post subject:  Estimate on front DTT installation

I'm gonna head over to a local shop today to get a quote for a DTT installed in the front D30a. What do you guys think the roundabout price will be?

Thanks,
Bill

$600 and 8 hours, They have to dissassemble the front end, can't do it in the Jeep.

I've been shopping myself, going to have an ARB installed.

I was hoping for $600-700 total between labor and parts, Doh :(

Would installing a DTT in the 30a cause it to grenade more or less?

lots of discussion on here regarding that some seem to think that it would help. But until proven which would be difficult then it make sense on paper but in the real world ??????

I think probably less, especially when its locked up. The issue with grenading occurs when an unlocked front wheel is spinning in the air suddenly gets traction. Or so most of the reports have indicated.

Having a locker or a LSD will keep the wheel in the air running at the same speed as the one with traction.

LSD's can be forced to lock up by applying a bit of brake.

I've seen front diffs with a TT locker grenade.
I've come to the conclusion that it's all up to the Jeep Gods...

May they treat you well :D

Well you need to remove the front strut assemblies to remove the CV shaft's,then remove the front diff from the KJ,about 6-8 hours if you know what you are doing, then you need to figure in the cost of the TT and the labor for installing it.Most places charge between $60-$100 per hour x 6-8 hours and then add $350+ install for the TT,so your looking at about $750-$1200 for install unless you do all the work or most of the work yourself(R/I the front diff would save alot of $$$).
