had an Astro van once with a similar problem. needed to replace an "oil sending unit" I think it was called.

Yea, I would start with the oil sending unit and go from there.

Its in the oil filter area.

Same thing on mine exact to a tee oil pressure sending unit. It is just above where you oil filter goes. It was $67 can for the part. You will need a special socket lucky I have a uncle who is an auto mechanic. Tricky spot to get at but save yourself some bucks. Hopefully it helps good luck.
