So im in the process of getting things ready for the replacement of my half shafts and front driveshaft. Im doing this for a few reasons. First one is that the front half shafts are going bad to begin with and are making a lot of clicking when i turn them hard enough. An second, for Al's 6' in lift its need cv moding. Which brings me to my actual question. IF Al could awnser this with a few pictures that would be great. What exactally has to be done for this CV modification? An whats exactall being shaved here? Now ive also come up with another thing. Would it be possible to just completly replace the CV joings with a near constant velocity double carden join instead?

Here's what he told me yesterday when I ordered:

"As for the CV joints, What tools do you have? Grinder with a cut of wheel, SawsAll, Band saw, or Lathe. We can work with one of these to do the job.

Remove the front axle, remove the boot from the CV tube, remove the shaft from the CV joint. Push the CV inner parts deep in the tube or remove the clip and disassemble it completely. Pack a clean rag in the tube, install a large hose clamp on the out side of the tube 3/8” from the end use the edge of the clamp as a guide for the cutting tool. Put the CV tube in a vice and use the tool of your choice to cut aside of the clamp. After removing 3/8” of material, remove hose clamp, clean the shavings out of the end, remove rag, pump in new grease, and reassemble. If you use a lathe put a small grove on the end of the tube to clamp the boot to.

If you would like me to machine 2 for you, I will send you axels with CV joints for $135.00 each, plus shipping. They are in stock just need to cut them down. Can have them cut and shipped in a week."
