ok i have been searching hi -n- low and came across a liberty with some heavy duty suspension lift. wow after reading the article this seems scary. However as much money as i have allready spent on trying to get RC kit to work... it just seems like a better idea to start and re-do this entire lift kit. I am not sure if i will proceed with this however its good know what is invovled and how long it will take. thanks Vinni |

While I do love the liberty, I think if I wanted any more than 3" of lift, I'd probably want to get something else. For the $3500 you'd have to sink in (before new wheels and tires, too), you can get a long way into a decent used wrangler (by decent I mean, the engine and tranny are good, and the interior is crap just like every other wrangler  )
Of course, that lifted libby does have the very-unique look to it, which is awesome. I like the liberty for what it is: a great multi-purpose vehicle, it can get me to work and back, in any weather, it can handle any reasonable trail, it handles luggage, cargo, passengers, skis, bikes, etc. If I wanted something to do some CRAZY serious rock crawling, I'd have to get a little more specialized and go nuts with the 4+" lift and 35" tires and whathaveyou. But for the "go wheeling a few weekends a year" that I'll be doing, the liberty is great. |

Plus; getting stuck, or picking the right line and driving properly so you don't get stuck, is half the fun. Actually, it's more than half the fun, it's the whole point! We've got people in our club with ridiculously modded rigs (TJs mostly) that you can just point at pretty much anything and they'll truck on through it without even blinking. To get into trouble in these rigs you'll need to be on a trail where serious vehicle and/or person damage is a real posibility. Of course if that's what you want to do then that's great, but it doesn't seem like a great way to spend a weekend to me. I'd rather have a truck that'll get me out into the beautiful Aussie scenery, will do all but the most extreme trails, won't leak when it rains, and will be comfortable to drive around on the road too. And for me, the KJ fits the bill perfectly! |
