Post subject:  Gas Tank Skid Plate & Hitch?

Hello All - new guy to Liberty and the Forum. Just got a 2006 Liberty Sport a couple weeks ago and already started mods. Got the Revos on and front tow hooks on order. I want to put full skid plating on starting with the fuel tank plate. I also want a rear receiver hitch to use primarily as a recovery point with a receiver shackle and clevis but I'm not sure if the skid plate will work together with the hitch regarding mounting location/holes etc. Anyone know? Thanks!

gas tank skids work in tandem with the hitch .. they both use the same holes.

install not much of a problem ... I just used a jack and some wood to hold em both up at the same time

Thanks! That's what I needed to know. I thought about just using the rear tow hook, but a hitch has more versatility I think. On with the mods!

Its nice to have an extra set of hands. Youve got to hold the skid up then bolt the hitch over it in the same holes but my holes didnt line up. Both the skid and the hitch had to be pulled apart so that the holes would line up.. It wasn't fun doing that alone. :?

Dito on the extra set of hands. I used some strong zip ties to hold the parts suspended on one side as i started a bolt on the other. was not too bad. once on the jack and wood I thead a zip tie through the access opening and one bolt hole. You should see what I mean. once it was held in the general area on one side i inserted a bolt on the other and then finished up the job. don't forget to torque em up good.
