Its been very cold the last two days (20-40) and I noticed that whenever my front struts compress they make a pretty loud squeaking noise. At first I thought that would go away after driving a couple of miles, but it didnt. Is anybody else experiencing this? Is it maybe the oil in the struts? |

What you're hearing is most likely the front swaybar bushings. Shoot them with some silicone spray and see if it subsides. |

a more permanent fix for this problem is adding a zerk fitting and making them greasable. very cheap and easy to do. |

Would it be a bad idea to make this a sticky with a link to the thread about making the greaseable bushings? This is one of the most popular threads around this time of the year. |

I agree. I know of at least 2 different current discussions about this topic. and a whole lot more than that in the past. |

Thanks guys! I´ve had this problem for a while too manifesting itself when hitting the speed humps. I also have somekind of a work shop manual, which tells me not to lubricate the sway bar bushings?! I think, I belive you better than my OWM in this case. -timo |

The author says that allowing a swaybar to slide horizontally in lubricated bushings reduces the effectiveness of the bar. I sprayed silcone grease on my bushings all last winter and got tired of having to do it every week or so when temps dipped below 50 degrees F. I bought a pair of new bushings at my Jeep dealership for $18. That should do the trick. If not, I'll jump on the greasing bandwagon. I think part of the concern is that people may use a petroleum-based grease instead of silicon. Some petroleum greases will damage rubber. |

Thanks for the link, jeepkj02! Seems quite an easy procedure to me. This will be carried out next tuesday (29th) together with a brand new OME lift installation. Woooh - I´m all excited -timo |
